This is insane ... no monitors, Ringo's drums aren't even mic'ed up, 10,000 screaming fans, and yet they're completely in time, three part harmonies totally on point, unbelievable energy and they're all still in their early 20's.
Trailblazers laying down a path for what was to come ...

Surely one of the greatest nights in the history of rock, mind-blowing ... It is when you think that the king had not performed live for nine years. He was actually very nervous ( as he always was before an audience, he never believed in taking them for granted) and nearly pulled out hours before. Some of the songs he no longer really liked ( so im told) but he didn't have a lot of new material and he knew the importance of the songs to his career, his fans and in my opinion in changing the direction of ' popular' music and culture. In November I'm going to see ( again) "Elvis" backed by what's left of his Las Vegas band ( in my opinion excellent musicians, particularly Ronnie Tutt and James Burton....in your clip it is Scotty Moore if course) and the Royal Philharmonic at the MEN.....last time I went Denis Law was sitting a couple of rows from me( i was actually there with a United fan who worshipped Denis).....I was able to speak to him saying " the King meets the King")

Parker had originally wanted it to be a Christmas special with the set based around a load of Christmas standards but the producer had different ideas and allowed Elvis to express himself, essentially creating the first MTV unplugged, 25 years before they actually happened and surely giving Presley (and us) his greatest live moment.

Although I'm not a big Elvis fan, my brother is and I acknowledge his influence on a whole host of artists and performers. This concert showed everyone what they had been missing while he was away making bad films. It's a pity his Vegas period didn't pick up where this left off.

Jimmy I don't think that he could keep being at the cutting edge as it were, but as far as live acts go , i don't think that many of his performances from the Vegas years were too bad...such as those below 1956 Elvis Nothing like it before then.( about 1.10 his mum and dad are in the audience....I don't think that they know what to make of it) 1970s Bruce Springsteen talking about the video below And Robert Plant

Notice how the vast majority of Elvis tribute acts choose to do Las Vegas Elvis. I guess it's virtually impossible to do 1956 Elvis! 😁

In my opinion this concert is brilliant if she is an Elvis fan ( it was better a few years ago when the TCB band were intact and WITHOUT the philharmonic) www.manchester-arena.com/events/elvis-in-concert/11551/

My Dad told me about when he was 17 (born in 1940) and he was standing in a queue in a chip shop and the transistor radio was blaring away in the corner behind the counter, playing the usual bland nonsense and then all of a sudden he heard this sound that he'd never heard before, it captivated him so much, that he shouted at the other people in the queue to stop chattering and LISTEN to what was emanating out of the radio. That was the first time that my dad (and indeed the other people in the queue) heard Heartbreak Hotel! 👊

Surely one of the greatest nights in the history of rock, mind-blowing ... Elvo at his greatest. Free from having to do those stupid films he could get back to singing with his friends and playing music. Legend has it Tom Parker was furious about it which makes it even better really. Stunning to think nine years later he was dead.

No mick missed that one , didn't much like the stadium for gigs , too big poor sound quality. I honestly don't remember who else attended . I had moved to London by then so maybe nobody from utch

I know for sure Wink went to CSN&Y and as he hung around with the older lads, I think Caz, Hop and Greeny would have probably been there.

If there's a better 'guitar off' than what happens halfway through this between Steve Vai & Dweezil Zappa I've never heard it... And if there's a better 'drum off' than what Bozzio is involved in afterwards I anna heard that either!

New (ish) on the block but the way this bloke whips up a crowd baffles me. Doing big things on his own without a record label and playing to crowds of this size. Saw him in May at the Neighbourhood festival. He captivates the crowd so well for someone who's only been on the bigger stages for a matter of months, up there with the best performances I've ever seen. Imagine he would be even better in a club/arena but his shows sell out in seconds!

Imagine he would be even better in a club/arena but his shows sell out in seconds! Seen him twice myself, once at the Viccy Hall and once at Community Festival in London. The Viccy Hall one was so much better as you say because it was smaller and more intimate. He's just done a couple of nights in Aberdeen which is the largest indoor arena gig ever held in Scotland, and sold out 50,000+ tickets for Hampden Park in less than 4 minutes. Not bad at all for an unsigned artist sticking it to mainstream music.

The sound is good on this video, but it doesn't do justice to how it sounded in the venue. Just waves of beautiful noise sweeping over.

Utter self confidence and self belief in bucket loads here. Great performance and an ace cover thrown in at the 30 minute mark

One of the comments to that says, “I want to join Talking Heads” David Byrne, “Hows your cardio” I just don’t know how they all do that & have the breath to sing & keep in perfect rhythm...
