He never looked comfortable in my opinion. His demeanour made him look a worse player than he actually was. Something about him just didn't look right. Good luck to him. It's better to be happy than to be rich. He ran like a milk float. If any one can remember them?

When he was on it I thought he was pretty decent especially when you think of the price we paid for him compared to let's say the return we've had from Wimmer and certainly don't think he'd look any worse than the crop we have now bar Shawcross He did play well in a lot of matches, and he often put in a last ditch save/tackle to prevent a goal, BUT, He always seemed to make at least one defensive howler and let the opposition in (wish it was only once these days!) and he had the turning circle of an oil tanker.

I didn't think he was that bad (apart from that Sunderland game, where he totally lost it!!! ), nowhere near what some on here made him out to be (why does that not surprise me)!!! He, along with all the rest, was fantastic in that cup game at Liverpool, the game we won, but crashed out on penos!!! I think his downfall may have had more to do with an attitude problem???

Definitely makes sense that he struggled emotionally with criticism and the intensity. Contextualises that fall out he had with Pieters on the pitch. Wish him well, another example of conditions only coming to light long after the event has passed. what fall out with pieters? i dont remember that Can’t remember the exact game but basically Pieters and Wolly started having a discussion on the pitch and Wolly started throwing his arms around and Pieters proceeded to give him a little slap If memory serves. It was very weird but didn’t seem to be blown up after.

It was very weird but didn’t seem to be blown up after. Think it was the Palace game where we lost 2-1 with their goals coming through a very dodgy penalty given against Bego and a very late winner. Wolly had ballsed something up and seemed to completely lose the plot, almost screaming at the linesman (I think). Pieters grabbed hold of him and slapped him. Believe me, it wasn't a little slap. It seemed to do the trick though and Wolly snapped out of it. Never seen a player react as Wolly did, but given previous events (Ric and Griff), Pieters was lucky not to have been sent off. The ref presumably took the view that Pieters was doing it for Wolly's benefit.

I remember him playing at Doncaster where he lost the plot. He's obviously looking after himself and his mental health, he sounds like a really nice guy.
He got a lot of stick on here, as many players do, too much of it personal.
Some of the things said about players and managers are disgusting and they are said by idiots who don't know anything about them.
We only have to see what is being said about NJ, he's probably one of the nicest people in football yet he is demonised. Sheer ignorance.
Good luck to Wollscheid

Arnie Shaq Bojan etc had a lot to do with that I think, not that useless lump, and what's he done since leaving us. I'll tell you....he's been a complete failure and has had to retire because he can't find anyone who wants him at 28 years of age!

Anyone who has played a full season alongside Shawcross is remembered as being at least half decent.
Cort Faye Huth Wilson Wollschied Martins Indi
I suspect that at least two of those were not all that great and would have looked a lot worse without him. Wollschied is one of them.

He comes across as a self obsessed swivel eyed nut job to me. Someone who says they take responsibility but you know deep down they don't think it's their fault. His outbursts since the Swansea game don't scream nice man to me at all.

Shawcross missed half the 2015-16 season when we finished 9th and made the league cup semi. Wollscheid played with 4 or 5 different partners at CB. He even played half a Premier League game with Jonny Tex -which we won.

His outbursts since the Swansea game don't scream nice man to me at all. Sorry I didn't realise I was talkin to an expert. If you read what I'd said, I was actually saying that his retirement was based on caring for his health. I was alluding to his mental health, I note your reference to "nut job", therefore some of his behaviour could of been symptomatic of his illness. Your language seems to have fallen into the category of those that seem to think they can hurl stones at these people without repercussion.
