That probably has something to do with the fact TP left a legacy for scfc in leaving it in the best shape it had been in for 30+ years and mark 'the arsonist' hughes consumed it to the bare bones then burned it down without planting fresh shoots... apart from KW of course, a player we can really come to appreciate for years to come for the price we paid for him. Mark Hughes was interested in mark hughes and his immediate success wheras TP was interested in the longevity of the club scfc at the top. That'll explain why he 8disregarded the Academy 😎 Yes because it's thrown out some real world beaters since hasn't it? However, mark embraced it.

Yeh TP was all about the longevity, that'll explain him spending more money over a five year period than everybody in the football league bar Man City and Chelsea. MH embraced the academy because he knew we couldn't sustain that amount of spending, TP also knew, he didn't care, just like he didn't care about his worshippers when he returned and treated them like twats. TP is all about TP, various courts, judges and committees have proved this throughout his time in football. Oops, I forgot, that wasn't at Stoke City so it's apparently airbrushed from history

So it's okay to bang on about MH at other clubs but with 'our Tone' we have to stick with what's happened at Stoke? Similar to name calling, no objections whatsoever to what MH gets called but, as we see further up this thread, limitations exist when it comes to 'our Tone'. This is in spite of one of the two treating the fans that previously held him in high regard like something he'd scrape off his shoe with a stick when he returned with another club. I'm beginning to understand how it works, not being much of a student of total hypocrisy I've been struggling with it a bit. Wasn't Scholes a problem for MH then? Did he go on holiday for Hughes's tenure? You're not seriously suggesting that Pulis walked because of Scholes and wasn't sacked now are you? That probably has something to do with the fact TP left a legacy for scfc in leaving it in the best shape it had been in for 30+ years and mark 'the arsonist' hughes consumed it to the bare bones then burned it down without planting fresh shoots... apart from KW of course, a player we can really come to appreciate for years to come for the price we paid for him. Mark Hughes was interested in mark hughes and his immediate success wheras TP was interested in the longevity of the club scfc at the top. Go tell it to your shrine you nutter. Pulis is as mercenary as anyone and has proved it time and again. The only reason he left no bad blood behind at Stoke is down to Peter Coates, not him.

Oops, I forgot, that wasn't at Stoke City so it's apparently airbrushed from history This is like a pik 'n' mix, I'm spoilt for choice here. Firstly, upon entering the premier league we had a squad that wasn't sizeable enough to compete, we had to increase the numbers. We also struggled to attract any quality as we were odds on favourites to be down in no time. We couldn't attract the right qutility, we had to build the team in stages. The money TP spent on players was in part down to the ambition of the club and the chairman to turn the scfc into a solid established premier league club, it required a lot of spending to build the club and especially the team in stages. Even so, let's have it right who was his biggest signing? Peter crouch... worth every single penny and even hughes flogged him to death for 4 to 5 years after, why? Because he failed miserably to bring in a player better in all that time. You really don't have an argument when it comes to spending money when you are shouting mark hughes' corner. Our all time club record buy played a handful of games, he's on massive money, cost a massive fee and we can't shift him, chuck in a few more notably big money flops and your argumenot disintegrates. We are enjoying the fruits of marks labour right now, we were consuming the fruits of TP's labour under Hughes. "Mark Hughes embraced the academy because he knew we couldn't continue with the amount of spending"... goes out and buys 4 players for at a guess... around £60m probably more, each and every single one of them we havn't recieved a single penny in sales for, we can't even sell them, 3 don't even want to play for the club, ndiaye has his reasons to do so too 😅 Gbp Pound for gbp pound TP'spent signings shit all over les' from a great height

Then your mate Rowett came along and spunked around £50 million on players like Ince and McClean, but he's another one that, bizarrely, gets a free pass from you! And that was £50 million when we were no longer on the Premiership gravy train

In the stands, with CEO, in the dressing room, he was on a hiding to nothing from day 1. That squad was not a premiership squad.

Absolutely. That’s agents’ main job. And that's why Berahinosgoals post struck me as being rather humerous and why I was questioning him, for some reason he ignored me, just like you did when I asked you whether you thought MH would act like the first class c**t that you professed him to be, when on the touchline should he return with another club. I'm starting to feel sneeped.. Sorry. I withdraw the pejorative statement (I am trying to moderate my language). However, I stand by everything else. I don’t like Hughes because he’s lazy and a fraud. While it’s true he did bring in some good, out-of-favor players, he also bought in some duds, especially in defense that ultimately caused the deck of cards to collapse. It is well documented that he takes a 9-5 approach to a job that requires 24/7 and he admits he does not think about it after he leaves the office. He leaves the coaching and training to others; consequently his tactical mistakes, especially substitutions, at times were disastrous, probably because he is out of touch with the players. He was fired by his last four clubs, which is not unusual for PL managers. However, he left QPR, Fulham and Stoke in worse shape than he found them and all were subsequently relegated. Southampton saw the error of their ways and fired him before it was too late. The Fulham players famously decided on their own to ignore him and play the successful system that Hodgson had implemented. Consequently their performances improved significantly and Hughes was fired. Under Hughes Stoke played some of the best football in 40 years, but look where we are now. The financial mess caused by some his disastrous, very expensive signings make it doubly difficult for us to dig out. I don’t think we’ll drop into League One, but promotion this season is almost out of reach, which means Martins Indi, Etebo, N’daye, Allen and others will leave. We need to get promoted next season or FFP rules will force us sell more players to break even or face a 12 point deduction.

It saddens me to see two of the best managers this club has ever had being lambasted by fans.
Pulis achieved what he achieved and we should be grateful, but it was clear during his last season that he had lost the plot and the football was dire to watch.
Hughes achieved what he achieved, he took us to a new level, firstly (simply?) by correcting what Pulis was missing, decent FBs, and creative players, both signed and in the case of N'Zonzi used properly. But he too lost the plot and somehow splurged money on highly flawed players, and neglected defending. In Hughes case I cannot believe he was allowed to highhandedly go and buy all the flawed players he did, surely there was someone at the club who's role was to exercise due diligence and ensure the companies finances were spent wisely? No company allows one man to single-handedly spend £10 millions without checks.

Is he bollocks a massive reason. Coates was to blame for Hughes, he hired him. Hughes did a great job in the middle part of his time in charge but when he stopped delivering what did Coates say? I don't know what all the fuss is about. Coates let everyone down where Hughes is concerned. so you can applaud mark Hughes for 2 good seasons but slam the owners for a decade in the top flight. about right I can applaud Hughes for 2 good seasons and I can applaud Coates for all his love and financial support for keeping Stoke going. I can also point the finger at Coates for the absolute bollocks witnessed since 2017.

That's him off-loading Nzonzi on the cheap which eventually led to a broken promise with Arnautović sodding off. Small-time.
