Honestly he sounded fine to me. People are finding anything to whine about now. They read into it whatever suits their negative agenda. He works too hard and his hours of work are too long, therefore he is incompetent, is my personal favourite at the minute. Ignore them.

If he stays, I obviously hope he turns things round. Thing is, he's gone from 'Really sorry I haven't been good enough' to 'I told you so' in four days.

So now we get people slating NJ for his arrogance ? Of course, Cloughie and Fergie would never have come across that way would they ? Both went through woeful spells as managers. I’m not saying NJ is anywhere near that class yet but sometimes a little arrogance is a good thing in football.[/quote Behave

I take it that we are off the bottom then? Oh, there must be some mistake with the tables? I think Nathan might need to win several of his upcoming games to convince most fair minded people that he has indeed turned the tables. Let’s wait and see before saying everything has now turned into a garden of roses?

The interview I saw, he clearly said its just one win and there is a lot of work still to do. You know maybe just maybe he is trying to improve morale and confidence in the squad by being buoyant and positive. Then again if someone's intentions are always negative they might not comprehend this. Would people rather he says we are totally fooked, its a mess and can't see anyway out of it, following a victory away from home to the league leaders (whether their position is false or not) Come on give the guy a break.

I know. But he did express it as if there was a credible suggestion that we might be, or that we were on the path out and the edge of the woods was close. I was just emphasisng that we are still very much lost in the deep dark woods. Reminds me of that bloody infuriating computer game that was all text - "You are in a wood" it said at the start. I don't think I ever got much further than that Was that the ZX Spectrum Hobbit game by any chance ? GD

Why is he even doing these interviews???
You'd think he'd keep quiet for a bit until he's improved on his dismal record at Stoke. Only then people will start to take him seriously.
Otherwise I don't have much problem with what he says tbh

Proof is in the Pudding!!!

If he stays, I obviously hope he turns things round, but the post-match interview on Saturday shouldn't have gone anywhere near defiance or 14 hour days or waving two fingers at his critics who are judging him on his abysmal record since January? Same goes for Joe Allen. One decent game doesn't cancel out being mostly sub-standard for the last two seasons but that's footballers for you.

Anything to whine about ... we hadn’t won since April prior to last weekend. The last 3 interviews he’s sounded like rayman! I’m all for passion but he seems to be blaming everyone but him, what about when he played that diamond with the wrong players or McLean every week, Gregory up top on his own, McLean at LB, not dropping Butland at the right time, some of his subs. He has to take some of the blame but I hope it works out for him, although personally think he still deserves to go, one result dont change how poor this season has been. Unless we go on some crazy run ... but suddenly a lot of or fans are changing their tune towards him.. baffling after one result!

Most managers don't seem to have a tenth of the passion Our Nath shows despite having even more money. I like the way he is, he might get carried away now and again but that's just the way he is. if it were me i would rather work for someone like him rather than some miserable twat.

Same goes for Joe Allen. One decent game doesn't cancel out being mostly sub-standard for the last two seasons but that's footballers for you. The guy is under pressure big time. The job is a total monster because of how the club has been handled this last few years. Lambert couldn't sort it and Rowett couldn't sort it. In fact they just made it even more complicated. Sack Jones and the complication gets bigger and the next fool in has an even bigger problem to sort out. Why do you think they haven't sacked him? The season has been a total disaster on the face of it, but seems to me the club now finally understand why this is the case and so are giving him every opportunity to sort it out. Maybe satdee was the turning point. NJ seems confident enough to say there have been disciplinary issues behind the scenes that he has resolved. Now he wouldn't be saying this if the owners haven't finally accepted that this is a major issue that they let MH make a pigs ear of. I am fully behind NJ and I think all of us should be because we can't really afford to sack him what with FFP on the horizon. We could end up in a position where we are still paying Rowett then NJ and the new manager simultaneously, it would be beyond any embarrassment we have seen so far. Our problem is critical and he simply must succeed and we should be screaming him all the way there whether you like him or not.

Whatever he says he's going to get slaughtered. He's best staying out of the media for a while. He can give it the big 'un when we're in the play off positions.

I’d respect him far more if he just acknowledged the win, didn’t bang on like he’s won the league and go to several media outlets to bang on about how great he is and how he works hard! That’s all a given, it’s expected you work hard man. Have some decorum Nath. Show a bit of class So If the manager of Stoke City is invited to be on a radio show, they should decline? If he refuses, "Embattled Stoke Manager Refuses To Face Press" would probably be the headline. We all know this is one tiny step in the right direction and has to be followed by many many many more, but why do we have to micro critique every single thing that happens?

So If the manager of Stoke City is invited to be on a radio show, they should decline? If he refuses, "Embattled Stoke Manager Refuses To Face Press" would probably be the headline. We all know this is one tiny step in the right direction and has to be followed by many many many more, but why do we have to micro critique every single thing that happens? Well said. He's not on about refusing to face the press is he? There was no place for defiance after the humble, 'I just haven't been good enough' speech on Tuesday night - it was ridiculous and absolutely nothing to do with motivating the players. Sticking with him may well be the answer, I just wish he'd shown gratitude for still being in a job, not spouting through gritted teeth about his critics knowing nothing when their comments are based on his abysmal record since January?
