It's got to be one of the most successful fitness initiatives of all time. Fantastic that the whole family can go along and participate as well. Great social atmosphere for any level of runner of any age.
I've spoken to many people over the years who's lives have been changed by it.

It's crazy that we've got 4 or 5 so close to us.
It's a hard thing to work out, but it just have saved the NHS a fair amount by improving health and well being for so many.
Ran 15 at 3 courses, need to spread my wings a bit.

Ran 15 at 3 courses, need to spread my wings a bit. I've done Hanley, Congleton, Wolverhampton and Telford. I turned up for the York one but it was cancelled due to it being the day of the Ebor. The stewards were kind enough to let about the 20/30 who'd turned up from outside the area to run around the course

Not in Drayton and I really can’t be arsed to drive 20 miles for a 5k run

It certainly improved my life immeasurably. I have loads of great friends in my town now, am a Run Director for parkrun, done 370 runs and 33 locations. Also got my first (probably only) win at a French parkrun in the summer

Also got my first (probably only) win at a French parkrun in the summer That's fantastic matey. I keep on banging the drum for Park runs and running clubs in the hope that someone can enjoy what we are all enjoying. The social side of running is something that is an absolute joy to me. I've met people from all walks of life, of all ages and both the sexes are equally represented these days. I'm up to two group holidays a year on the back of it as well. I was talking to one of my colleagues who runs and she was telling me of a recent acquisition to her club who started at the Crew Park run 6 months ago to lose some weight and to get fitter. She's now three stone lighter and enjoying a club with approaching three hundred members and regretting the fact that she didn't start earlier. The best result I had at a Parkrun two years ago I finished 5th out of around 500 and took the Vet category record

Did my first Park Run 3 weeks ago (Congleton). I really enjoyed it. The positive atmosphere and the encouragement from stewards and other runners was great. Such a wonderful thing to get involved with.
I went again the following week and it will definitely become a regular occurrence for me now.

I see parkruns will be making a long-awaited comeback soon.
Given the numbers (300 in Hanley and close to 400 at times on the Wammy parkrun) and my injuries since I took up running (that weren't caused by running but stopped me from running), I'm concerned about tripping someone up or being tripped up. Does it generally work where everyone sets off in a big crowd? Is it ordered in any way e.g. faster runners starting at the front?
I also appreciate it's fun, but the competitive side of me would want to run as fast as I can!

I also appreciate it's fun, but the competitive side of me would want to run as fast as I can! Hopefully it will be back. They're worried about some landowners not giving permission for the runs to restart though. The problem being that if one closes then others nearby will be swamped with those runners and therefore not be able to operate either. There's 3 I could go to, all about 500+ runners so if one closes then those 500+ would chose the other 2 and those other 2 wouldn't be able to cope. There's a real danger that lots might therefore close. To answer your questions, Yes, it starts like a race and generally the racing snakes are at the front with us mere mortals spread out through the field. Id have alook at the results page for your local one and see where you'd roughly fit. As someone said to me once 'You're not going to win and you're not got to come last.' You are really competing with yourself and trying to get a PB as often as possible. Just don't forget to register and you'll need a barcode! It's great though - I'm sure you'll enjoy it.

Cheers - I would be in the top 10% based on the last local run, which is higher than I expected. Though I'm used to running trails so not sure what 5km of concrete would do to me.

Get yourself over to Delamere Forest Park run then, then after you could run up old pale or along the sandstone trail a bit
