As the majority of supporters are aware, booking fees and transaction fees are common across the entertainment and sports sector. The Club have resisted implementing such fees in the past but with the installation of a new ticketing system which has benefits to fans, together with it being standard through the industry, they elected to recover some of the cost.

I can't see what the "benefits for fans". We are being charged for buying something. Rip off.

Thanks Ange.
"The Club confirmed that it is already encouraging contributions from young bloggers and vloggers and any fan with an interest in this area can idea share"
I've seen absolutely nothing on social media to suggest this. And it's pretty incredible the media team are completely unable to do anything other than stone faced tweets. Their YouTube is a graveyard.

I bet one of the benefits is people on Apple phones can now buy tickets on our phones. Lucky us. Something that should have been a function years ago. If it’s not I’m struggling as to what else there could be 😂

Mmmm very poor by the club and no doubt will be increasingly frustrating for the council. A number of questions being answered partially or being effectively dismissed with half hearted responses.
Key points:
They know that they’ve been charging for „extra benefits“ but not delivering yet have given no assurances for either a refund or even the guarantee they won’t charge until the issue is sorted. Only that they will discuss it.... and will continue to do so until the system is ready.
Very disingenuous with their answers about the ticketing charge. Of course they didn’t discuss it with the council, they knew it would be unpopular, especially as the new system is still now working fully. They were therefore able to charge people without recourse. As for the charges themselves... scandalous! They may want to recover costs (although it was their decision to implement the new ticket system.. without discussion or prior notice) and the two charges are simply disgusting. A booking charge and a transaction charge? Surely they are one and the same? As for charging people to collect their own ticket?????
The final paragraph was very very very telling. The fact that they want to set out what they will discuss with the council defeats the whole purpose of transparent communication with the fans representation. They council should have the remit to discuss anything that affects fans... it is not up for the club to decide what can and cannot be discussed (apart from obviously sensitive business/transfer sensitive information) and smacks of how the club now view the council as a irrelevance rather than a partner. It also gives me a clearer understanding of Malcolm’s frustration as what has happened too, ableit from a different view.
This is not a post against the council... I support them wholeheartedly. It is just very obvious the direction the club is going with them and smacks of the type of dismissive operations that were prevelent pre Premier League year’s.

IMHO If the club decide which subject to “consult on” and which to “advise on” it clearly demonstrates a the shallowness of a certain Director. “The final paragraph was very very very telling. Did anyone ask what the benefits are? Fucking right. I've worked out now I've paid over 25 notes in these additional charges already this season. What sort of wizardry am I going to benefit from with a new ticketing system? It's utter fucking cock rot from the club.

Poor answer from the club on the ticketing charges. Absolutely disgraceful in fact. Two fingers up to the council and extra middle finger up to the supporters.
They'll reap what they sow on this one and make no mistake.

It is just very obvious the direction the club is going with them and smacks of the type of dismissive operations that were prevelent pre Premier League year’s. I don't know, but I am assuming, that the issue in the final paragraph arose from the earlier item where the Council complained (quite rightly in my view) that it had not been consulted about the new ticketing charges. The minute records that in the first instance the Council will set out what it thinks should be discussed, although I am a little worried by the possible implications of the distinction made between things the Club will "consult" about and things on which it will only give "advance notice" to the Council. It will be interesting to see what the Council includes ( and doesn't include) in its list, and how the club responds to that list. EFL regulation 118 states that the club must "discuss" ( which clearly implies consultation rather than advance notification) "significant issues" and that the arrangements must be set out in the Club's customer charter. If you look at the customer charter ( quite difficult to find on the club website, but it is there) it describes the Council as a "consultative process" for fans on "decisions which affect them most". Although this leaves some room for interpretation, I think the rules basically support your interpretation. We will have to see what comes out of this review. Two documents which are of considerable significance to fans which I think should be discussed with the Council are the Club's latest report on its customer charter implementation which it has to submit to the EFL by June each year, and its summary of its financial position which it has to submit to the EFL each year under EFL regulation 16. Returning to the new ticketing charges when I bumped into Tony Scholes at the Wrexham pre-season friendly, I congratulated him on the continuation of the free coach travel (which in all fairness is an important and unique initiative at this level for which the Club do deserve praise) and that they don't impose any ticketing transaction charges - at which point he told me about the new charges, which was a good job because I was about to praise the Club nationally on both fronts A retraction would have been embarrassing for both of us. Of course the excellent free coach travel shows that you don't have to do something just because nearly everybody else does it, which seems to be the argument on the transaction charges. The Council should definitely have been consulted about it.

Thank you for your reasoned response and it was very interesting to note how Mr Scholes disclosed the ticketing Informatik to you, almost as a „oh, by the way“ matter as opposed to a fundamental change in ticketing arrangements that directly affect fans. It is the whole underhand way they have gone about it that has infuriated everyone fuelled by the absurd charges for a „benefit“ that isn’t even available yet. It shows how out of touch the club is with business communication practices across the various industries and sectors. Businesses are increasingly transparent on their strategies with their employees including future changes and market opportunities, of course without disclosing sensitive information. It is something I personally condone and have implemented and it improves employee engagement and customer satisfaction by using this open communication method. Unfortunately this only serves to prove that Stoke City as a business are rapidly out of touch not only with new initiatives but also with customer‘s needs and interests. It also highlights some of the issues behind the scenes with poor management from the executive positions and will only deteriorate further if they continue this route.

Booking fees and transaction fees may indeed be common in the entertainment industry but charging patrons to COLLECT tickets most certainly isn't. Not even Ticketmaster (whose primary source of income is selling and distributing tickets) charge their customers to collect theatre and concert tickets from the venue box offices. It is an absolute scandal that SCFC think that it is appropriate to charge their own supporters to do so.

This is surprising and disappointing since one would have expected the Council to seek explanations and reassurance from the club on it, or even if they didn't for the Club to place the matter on the agenda given the concerns of supporters and the adverse publicity they received on it.

It was covered at length by us in earlier meetings. The report recently aired in the local press was actually published in the first quarter this year and we were made aware of it and addressed it then. The club has a new inspection pending and we will return to it when there is something more to address.
