Fernando " frankie " was a hero to many Rangers fans. He was Club Captain an outstanding player and by all accounts a thoroughly nice guy. He was taken by this awful disease. I am sure that all Stoke City fans will show their thoughts on the Rangers site on Facebook and pass on their condolences to his family. RIP Captain Frankie.

Motor neurone disease (aka ALS) is one of the cruelest diseases anyone can suffer. It's fucking awful. The daughter of one of my teachers died in her teens from it. Toward the end of her life she could only move her eyes, and she communicated by looking at a letterboard. Then near the very end, she was completely locked in and had no way to communicate. Worst of all, she was completely alert.
Deepest condolences to all of Ricksen's loved ones.

A terrifying illness, lost an aunt to this and as a teenager always admired the guitarist Jason Becker who suffers with this and still composes music via eye movement ( think it was he who conceived of the 'ice bucket challenge?') Elite level athletes often struggle to come to terms with a waning of their prowess,so one can only imagine the anguish and outright fear an illness like this must engender. RIP

Absolutely awful.
England Ladies captain Steph Houghton's husband (Stephen Darby) has the same disease. He's only young as well and used to play for Bradford. So cruel.
God bless, Fernando xx
