Too slow, My option so don’t shoot the messenger You’re not the messenger if it’s your opinion (or “option”??). A messenger takes the message from someone else and simply delivers it. This is your message. He’s slow and has poor ability on the ball unless you’re after a ‘big hoof’. He was below average before he was injured so if you think him coming back after a lay-off you’re deluded. That’s my OPINION smart arse

Don't Ryan and Collins play the right side of CB (similar types)
If so it's Collins every day for me along with his leadership.
It's an absolute luxury to have the likes of Ryan as backup, certainly in this league.
Unfortunately I always thought Ryan struggles in back 3

It's an absolute luxury to have the likes of Ryan as backup, certainly in this league. Unfortunately I always thought Ryan struggles in back 3 Similar types yes but so were Ryan and Faye and Huth. In fact I've always felt Ryan played better with the same sort of player and it proved to be the case last year with Bahtt when he started to regain his form. Leadership? Collins is obviously a future captain and shows leadership but is still learning so not the right time yet. I suspect Ryan commands a lot more respect in the changing room and if we miss anything it is his reading of the game and organising of the team. It's not loyalty that have made our last five managers pick him as captain. How many young players have talked up the way Ryan has helped them and given him credit for developing their careers? It is absolute nonsense to say he is not a leader and totally disrespectful of our most loyal current era player. Not all leaders shout at the team and not telling players off when they make a mistake is not bad leadership - they know they don't need it rubbed in in front of team mates, opposition players and the crowd. Luxury or not Ryan has earned a contract at Stoke until he retires. How many players of his stature remain loyal to one club? Mark Noble is the only one I can think of and look at all the praise he gets from the media. I always felt Ryan's loyalty has been totally ignored by Sky, BBC etc. And if Collins goes to Man Utd in the near future what then? I'd rather have Ryan over Bahtt or BMI any day.
