We think that here at Stoke things are pretty desperate, with an horrendous run of matches with few wins or convincing performances. But there is new evidence that suggests an underperforming team can turn things around.
In the Highland League in Scotland, Fort William have ended a 29-month run without a win in the League by beating Clachnacuddin 1-0. Now they have ended a 74-game, 882-day run since a 12 April 2017 league win.
Last month, they halted an 840-day wait for any kind of victory by beating Nairn County 5-2 in the North of Scotland Cup. Scintillating stuff.
So if Fort William can do it with a team including nine players on loan (from Inverness Caledonian Thistle), our expensively assembled squad surely now have no excuses.

My missus feels sorry for Clachnacuddin. How do you cope with being the team that ends your opponents epic run of failure. They must have been devastated.
