Shine on you crazy diamond? I like this formation but think it will be Butland and Smith for Fed and Ed. Be good if Powell was fit. Fly out of the traps and get after them. If you are going to go Nath, might as well go down fighting with all guns blazing. Good luck lads - you're due a bit and a good home win I hope. Yeah, I wasn’t sold on the diamond but it was starting to look as if there might be something there with the chances created. The fact that he panicked and ditched it worries me and made me question if he really doesn’t know what he’s doing after all. I remain convinced it was a compromised formation to tighten up at the back. It will be interesting if Badou wants to play. He'll never have a better opportunity to "rest" Joe, and Big Pete in the middle is nailed on. Would he play Badou next to Pete or at the base I wonder?

I would say the pointer is he had six months to fine tune it, in terms of both coaching and personnel, and it's been hopeless. I broadly agree, but also think there were promising signs to be seen against Charlton and Derby. With Etebo, a fit Powell and that lad Gregory Hogan playing up front, it's like a new team ;-)

It’s in his interests to knuckle down and he’s a good player but I just can’t see him featuring.

I've read some articles in which it says Badou is best played as more of an attacking midfielder than a holding one, id like to see him play more advanced. we could play Etebo and Badou and have woods sit in behind them.

I like that too. The African powerhouse of a centre midfield two with the Ginger Ninja snapping behind them. That might allow Nicky Powell to stroll about with a cigar behind the front two, just looking for angles without actually having to run all that much. Could be good - but he would have to sacrifice two of his favourites. Sadly I also don't think Badou wants to play anymore and will only talk Turkey.

This is the team that I would play. This is purely my opinion & has no influences from any other sources.
Butland
Collins CCV BMI
Edwards Etebo Woods McClean
Duffy or Powell
Hogan Campbell

Is it mental to suggest Clucas is one of the first names on the team sheet at the moment? He's one of the few players actually creating chances and his set piece delivery is good.

My issue with him is he doesn’t seem to fit any specific position though. He’s too passive as a CM, we don’t play with any wingers & there’s a case to be made his best games for us have come when played on the left either as a wing back or wide midfielder.

I should be careful. If anyone names "their" team this week and it turns out to correspond with the actual match day one, there's going to be an awful lot of finger pointing.

He seems to be the only one consistently in the starting 11.
I think he'll play because, I suspect like you, Ndiaye is hoping to winter in Istanbul.

I think he's been decent in midfield this season. Flies under the radar but a neat and tidy player who gets into good positions. I read on Twitter from yer man Expected Kilns that he's one of the leading creators of chances from open play in the league this season. He's also been the deliverer of every corner we've scored from.

Badou should be no where near the team. Imagine the message that sends to the players that you can show no desire to play for the club, be wantaway but then start the match? I don't want him anywhere near our XI, he was never even that good, average at best and I'd take Etebo over him every day.

Understand what you’re saying but the other midfielders aren’t pulling any trees up, are they ? we paid £14m for him and no doubt pay him a fortune in wages, if he’s fit, willing and able I’d like to see him play.

Why are people picking Butland and Davies?
Federici
Edwards Collins Indi Ward
Badou Etebo
Ince Duffy Clucas
Vokes
Ward because he’s the only left back we have.
Badou because we’re desperate.
Duffy because Powell is probably still injured m.
Vokes because it’s a shitshow up there whoever plays.

So which names are going to get picked out of the hat by Jones this weekend?
I am at the game, rather than watching on my TV/laptop in the comfort of my living room 3000 miles away. It will be interesting the gauge the feelings of friends in person and see the general crowd reaction to the manager and the team right now.
Just met with a contact in London who knows I go back to watch a game every time I am back in the UK. I said that of course I am doing so again, as I support the team through thick and thin. Isn't that the point right now - whatever issues we may have with the owners, board, CEO, manager, various players, on the day we support our team, do our bit to will them to the first victory of a so far desperately disappointing season?
Anyway, for what it's worth, my team:
Butland
Collins Carter Vickers Martins Indi
Edwards Woods Etebo McClean
Powell (is he fit? If not, Ince)
Campbell Gregory

Didn’t realise that BC are unbeaten since 1st game of the season against Leeds. 🤦🏻♂️
Jones interview after we lose again... we were good for that first 20 minutes, they’re a great side, we’ve had a number of players playing for the national teams, we need to be better

I've decided to give Butland another chance because we know he really is a decent player when focused. I've also picked Vokes ahead of Gregory simply because he is a bigger threat in the box. Gregory works his socks off and his hold up play is excellent, but he doesn't score enough goals. I would also pick Badou and Powell as we know they are among our better players. Clucas and Allen will have to wait for another chance in my opinion.
