We were in for Bellamy twice. Once when he was cast out of Newcastle when we were in the second division and then again circa 2011 when he was at Man City. I'm not convinced that the first occasion wasn't just Freddie Shepherd trying to humiliate Bellamy by saying that the only team with any interest is Stoke. On the second occasion, TP supposedly dithered because he also had Joey Barton lined up and didn't want two volatile players in the same dressing room. In the end, he got neither.
Either way, he was nailed on to play in the Fuller position, leading the line and playing in the channels. He did that very effectively for Man City when he played against us.

Not to open this up again, as fun as it always is to get up parapsych’s nose, but why was he nailed on to play that position? There’s no basis for saying that when he hardly ever did it for anyone else that size. You had to be tall to play up front for Pulis. I’m not having it that Craig Bellamy was this titanic, unique figure who would’ve been the exception when Euro 96 star Patrik Berger and Balon D’Or winner Michael Owen weren’t.

Man the book is a bit cringe, in parts it reads like a parody From throwing an apple in a bin like basketball, in defiance of his mum who was worried about a mark on the wall, and his dad who thought it was funny (think this is an attempt to show how rebellious he was as he says this is an example of how cheeky he could be) to telling Stubbs in a Merseyside derby - you won't be saying that again after he scored. It's downright cringe and I'm only a third through! He really is boring 😂 Nothing will ever be more cringe than his brochure If it's cringe you want...

Your head is too big to fit. Berger wasn't a striker so I don't get that one. And TP had probably lost his marbles by the time we had Owen. Apparently he didn't like the look in his eyes or something!? Even if TP hadn't played him there, he obviously would have worked better there than those 2, given the way we played and he played. Like a glove.

People constantly made the mistake of thinking that because things made sense, Pulis would do them.

I would have said that the difference is that, unlike Tuncay, Owen and whoever else, Bellamy had the attributes to play the role. He had pace, guile and an ability to work the channels to win set pieces. He was a deluxe Fuller. Aside from size, the two are comparable in style and role in the team.

You can’t say ‘aside from size’ in a Pulis team! He didn’t play strikers under 6ft in one of those two forward roles unless he absolutely had to.

Did he not use a lot of Shane Long and Jay Rodriguez at West Brazil? Long left a year before Pulis joined West Brom. Rodriguez is 6'1", so kind of Pulis-lite.
