Both boring wankers. Neither could lace the boots of Rooney IMO. yeah right, certainly not in the granny shagging stakes I'm not interested in the off-field antics, makes no odds to me. I'm sure you've got your own fetishes. I've never seen Owen or Shearer score a goal that Rooney couldn't. I've seen WR score 4/5 goals that neither of the other two could.

Shearer was a mardarse. He got two Newcastle managers sacked. As soon as he got left on the bench they were finished. Also, it's widely alleged there was a huge argument in the dressing room after an England game, after which, Hoddle never managed another competitive England game. When it came to internal politicking Shearer made Stalin look tame. Gullit and Robson? Interesting article that seems to backup Michael Owen. www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/2388505/Robson-Shearer-betrayed-me.htmlI find it funny that the tweet posted above from Lineker.... it's a bit like biggest the least twatty out of those three and tbh, I suspect Owen might be that. Shearer is a bit of a dishonest charlatan. Lineker is your typical smug prick, desperate to be loved by everyone but actually hated by... well, pretty much everyone. Owen is a merely unlikable being a bit of a shithouse. At least he's honest about being a shithouse though.... unlike the two above.

Hoddle was sacked for saying the the following in an interview "My beliefs have evolved in the last eight or nine years, that the spirit has to come back again, that is nothing new, that has been around for thousands of years. You have to come back to learn and face some of the things you have done, good and bad. There are too many injustices around. You and I have been physically given two hands and two legs and half-decent brains. Some people have not been born like that for a reason. The karma is working from another lifetime. I have nothing to hide about that. It is not only people with disabilities. What you sow, you have to reap. Youu have to look at things that happened in your life and ask why. It comes around. I can still believe Shearer is a massive self obsessed twat mind. There are about a billion people in the Indian sub-continent who would think that is fairly standard stuff. Its entirely consistent with Hinduism and other belief systems too. This. I always felt he was treated a little harshly, especially compared to the stuff other people in the footballing world seem to get away with. I honestly read his comments as him trying to explain to himself and understand why people are disabled and suffering, rather than any sort of prejudice towards people with disabilities. Maybe I'm naive but I don't believe his words came from a hateful place. Basically, to me, it's the equivalent of the "God moves in mysterious ways" or "original sin" stuff (or similar) that some Christians come out with when a child is born disabled or someone dies in tragedy. Yet that seems to be allowed without question because it comes from a more Western belief system.

It's not that puzzling really, Tony has his own way and style of playing. Its easy to be a free spirit in a team full of stars but at a club that needs to fight for every point players are signed to do a job. Does Owen have problems following orders? Would explain why he didn't feature much.

Owen is a twat, and a boring twat at that. The bloke doesn’t give a shit, if he really cared he wouldn’t have signed for Man Utd being a Liverpool “legend”. He's got no loyalty to Liverpool he was bought up an Everton fan

He never really played off the big man like many expected he might. Other than being injured maybe he was just poor in training. I can barely remember his time here now, i know he had an hernia op once, not sure if it was when he was here. He probably carried a sick note around with him.

Can anyone remember when Owen played for us and chimed someone after a challenge and wasn't even booked?
Or am I making this up due to a diseased and time addled mind?

It was never about ‘boosting the profile’, you can’t boost someone’s profile from the bench.

You reckon Rooney would've had the pace to score the goal against Argentina in 98? Plus a few others pre-injury for Owen? Shearer was rapid as well in his early days. Whilst a fine footballer, in my opinion, I don't think Rooney has been renowned for his pace.

See Eidur Gudjonsen and Jonathan Woodgate also Yep. Patrick Berger. Tuncay. The attempt to sign Craig Bellamy. In the words of Barney Ronay “Even as the good times began to roll Pulis felt the need to go out and sign the Turkey midfielder Tuncay Sanli in much the same way a socially aspirational 18th-century farmer might have imported at vast expense a clankingly useless Austrian harpsichord that nobody within 300 miles can play and which ends up being used to prop open the parlour door.” www.theguardian.com/football/blog/2013/may/24/tony-pulis-stoke-city?CMP=Share_iOSApp_Other

No he was in his pomp but had fallen out with Souness, it was the binary season. Bellamy could only have played out wide in a Pulis team, would he have tracked back enough for Tone? Would he have been too gobby for Tone? I reckon so.

He’s way too small to play up top in a Pulis side. Fuller was 6ft3. Barely relevant. Fuller's height was barely a factor in the Championship, his strength and skill were far more important and Bellamy wasn't a fanny. Nearly all the long balls were pumped to Mama and Fuller ran the channels to remarkable effect, something Bellamy was certainly very capable of. Fuller wasn't required to do that much in the air until we got promoted and then remarkably started scoring a load of headers, something he hadn't shown too much aptitude for previously. Bellamy would have been perfect in those pre-Fuller days. Surely there was never a chance of getting him though.

Yes, the team depended on his skill and pace but he was strong, could hold defenders off and won plenty in the air and was a threat from set pieces and crosses. In 10 years at the club you can count the number of strikers under 6 foot Pulis played up front with any regularity on a webbed foot. He’d play them on the wing like Greenacre, Paterson or even Owen once or twice but they hardly ever played up front. If Fuller had been under 6ft I doubt Pulis would’ve signed him. According to Higgy it was a toss up between him and Dexter Blackstock in the first place.

He was in the most significant way for a Pulis team - he was under six foot. Are we just ignoring that Pulis had the best part of £100m to spend, was here for a decade and hardly ever played a smaller striker up front? About the smallest he’d go for was Walters, who was good in the air and just about bang on 6ft. Are we saying that’s just a coincidence?

I barely care enough to debate this one. We never signed a player quite like Bellamy, but allegedly we tried. I just happen think he'd have played up front because I think he was something of a unqiue player, far above the usual quality, in possession of certain skills we didn't see in any of those previous examples, who might well have got past the usual TP striker height barriers because of this, that's all. You don't, because he wasn't very tall. Fine. Only one man knows. And he's probably forgotten.

Patrik Berger was an incredibly gifted player. Tuncay could be on his day. Michael Owen was one of the greatest strikers of his generation. When Pulis deigned to play them at all, he played them on the wing. Whatever made more sense to do or you or I would’ve done, there’s no evidence to suggest Bellamy would’ve been any different, had he signed for us, which he absolutely wouldn’t have done under any circumstances at that point in his career.
