Don't disagree, his first job would have to be to make us hard to beat and grind out a few wins though...... Oh absolutely, just saying he's less safety minded than some people assume. He's a perfect fit for us and I've always thought he'd end up managing here eventually but I was hoping it wouldn't be in these circumstances. He seems to let the handbrake off a bit at this level and then put it back on with about four padlocks once he’s been promoted.

I'm taking this as a subconscious message to all stoke fans who've had enough, cause unrest and it may happen. Over to the brentford away boys !!

I'm taking this as a subconscious message to all stoke fans who've had enough, cause unrest and it may happen. Over to the brentford away boys !! It’s already a real stick or twist conundrum. If we lose the next 2 games, it’s going to be very difficult if not impossible to attract Hughton or any manager who has been successful at this level. If we do fail in the next 2 games we will have to break all existing records to stay up. Fulham got just 1pt from their first 8 games, but then went on a very good run of results which eventually secured them 17th. It takes a brave man to take on such a project

All this 'it's only been 7 games' stuff is actually very unrealistic.

And it's absolutely astonishing that the people running the club, seem not to get this. They're basically putting themselves in the ridiculous position, where they will have to accept that the new man will have very little realistic chance of actually keeping us up and as a result, during that interview, there will have to be a very serious discussion about how to get us promoted (back into the Championship)!

Its crazy. We needed a new man in during the international break to organise and get a positive start in a winnable home match against Bristol city.
I can't believe we are in this situation but it all stems from the fact that no one at the club is capable of making a correct decision.

If it continues and they fail to respond, I can honestly say they have got their man for league 1

Must be on his way surely by now (Jones out/Hughton in).

Hughton is the dream appointment for us but the fact we're still dithering over Jones leads me to believe he isn't waiting in the wings. If he is, then the owners need to act NOW.

Nope. Hes been 8/11 for a while, He was evens 2 weeks ago when we lost to BC and the next closest runner has come in even further from 15/2 to 5's.... Christknows why Phil Neville is there makes the whole thing look a wind up.....

Christknows why Phil Neville is there makes the whole thing look a wind up..... Yeah - that was posted on Saturday morning - when he went from EVS (which he'd been for a long while) to odds-on. Agree on Neville - but trying to think of others who might be in the frame is very hard!

I'm still not sure he'd take it. The more likely out of that list will be one of:
Tony Pulis Martin O'Neill Nigel Pearson Nigel Adkins Alan Pardew Aitor Karanka Chris Coleman Steve McClaren Gary Megson Ian Holloway
with the trump card being wee Gordon Strachan. Possible outside choice of Mike Phelan if he fancies stepping out of the comfort of Old Trafford.

When we appointed Phil Chapple everyone was banking on the Hughton link but he was at West Ham as Academy coach / director when Pardew was there and followed him to Charlton as Chief Scout.

Martin O’Neill is great odds considering we’ve gone after him before and he’s one of Peter Coates’ friends

If there’s any truth that Hughton is waiting in the wings and the Board are still dithering over sacking Jones that’s just utterly incomprehensible and bonkers!
Are they not watching both the games and media performances, Jones is turning into Sick Boy from Trainspotting!

If Hughton does turn us down, I'd take TP back over any of that list and i certainly don't want alan pardew near this football club i could stomach Karanka, Pearson and possibly O'Neill (only if he brought Keane with him).

All that didn’t want dinosaur managers as some call them after Hughes /lambert went are now getting what I said they would ...the likes of big Sam Moyes etc are used to get clubs back before being replaced again ..we went down the wrong up and coming route ...they only come along like Eddie Howe very very rarely...we are not a big club but too many supporters think/thought we are ....next manager if jones goes will only be here for money...with ffp club it’s screwed for at least 2 years
