This really is starting to sound like a soap opera, swings one way where you think he's staying, then the other with quotes from him which suggest he thinks he may have done enough to persuade them to keep him.. what on earth will tomorrow bring?! But the real question is ..... Who killed JR? Or was it all a dream? Better still...will they shoot NJ? There are times I've woken up and prayed his tenure was a dream

Does Barnsley changing manager put more pressure on Jones? Yes He'll have to aim much, much lower to get another job

Cruel, but that got a laugh from me! At this stage, you are not prepared to confirm it then? I can 100% confirm that I laughed at the original post.

As ever.
You could of course just make something up?

The longer they carry on saying nothing though, the more likely it is that results will slide as rumours circulate on the future of the manager. It's human nature the players will down tools eventually. They aren't daft. If they come out now and backed him it could give everyone around the club a huge boost at a time when it is very much needed. Let things rumble on and it plays into the hands of the players in the squad that want rid. It's an appalling way to run a football club. I understand what you are saying, but we all know that Jones is one step away from a sacking. Jones position has been getting more precarious with each match till Saturday. If we were to get a hiding in the next match he would be gone, which has been the situation for some time. The board would be mocked if they come out with a supportive statement and the sack him after the next match. If there are any players in the squad who want to get rid of him (names please?) I hope Jones and his assistants have enough savvy to marginalize them. I do agree there are one or two players who are playing like they want the manager sacked, but I really doubt they are that stupid. So the alternative is to sack him then? What's the delay if you don't believe he is the right man, or is he only the right man until they can persuade the next man to join, by which point it begs the question as to what they do if they can't? Sack him anyway to save face and appoint anyone? Keep him on and pretend it never happened? Like I say, it's an appalling way to run a football club and an even less way to treat a human being. I'm so disappointed in this whole sorry saga I can't even begin to tell you.

I never post rumours or ITK related stuff on here but I spoke to a bloke today who I know is very well connected to the media side of the club at high levels, he told me Jones was leaving and the club are approaching Hughton. Obviously it may not be accurate but I 100% trust him and know he has plenty of real contacts at Stoke.

My only reservation is , is it actually an extraordinary display of “ stand by your man “ and indeed no attempt at recruitment had yet been made and no decision made , of course if things do turn for Jones that will be the public position , if they don’t it will be we gave him more time than anyone would saying nothing actually keeps their options open saying something might bite them . One thing for sure though if he is fired before Fulham or after a defeat in that game it will look as you say like another appalling example . my greatest fear is that what happens , all the proper managers have said no or gone elsewhere and come on down the next left field patsy ready to be slaughtered by the “process “

So all is quite on the manager front so can only assume that Nathan Jones is still busy working at Stoke doing 12 hour days and will be taking the press conference for the next game?

Sunderland have just sacked Jack Ross, if Nathan is going to go I don't think he'll have a paucity of options.

Be interesting to see if any of these managerial sackings will prompt our board to do anything it probably won't but you never know.

So his employment at Southampton does not in any way affect things? Why would it? Because normally the payments stop when a manager gets a new job. The logic is they wouldn’t get paid twice. If it was for less money, we might too it up but that’s all

If they didn't sack him after Huddersfield they certainly aren't going to now are they? It's just more than a bit disappointing they've chosen not to clarify their position.

I can sympathise with them to a degree - as long as he knows the situation. Silence gives them time and flexibility. If they back him this week, what do we do if it's business as usual against Fulham? Does he then get Sheffield Wednesday? It's still hard to see him clambering out of the hole.
