Apologies if this has already been posted but I couldn’t see it anywhere.
Just watched this - fantastic interview! What a man. For me it’ll be hard to beat the 90s at the Vic in the Boothen End signing Lou Macari’s Barmy Army.
Those were the days!

Times have moved on (sadly) but those times will always be remembered the most fondly. It’s a fantastic story and he’s a great man. What he’s done for the city and his work with the Macari Centre is amazing. I don’t think they make them like him anymore!

My favourite times as a Stokie when Lou was in charge, especially 92/93
As good for me as any of our premiership years

Should be considered if not,for his work with the homeless.

He said Swindon lost in the play off final, they didn't they won but were denied promotion to the top flight for breaching financial regulations.

If only we could get a 2019 Lou Macari to sort these lot out and sign some players like Vince Overson or Mark Stein happy days could return

Doesn’t he mention in the second interview that if players don’t like the system, they can down tools, just maybe thats our problem now ........??????

Doesn’t he mention in the second interview that if players don’t like the system, they can down tools, just maybe thats our problem now ........?????? I dont, I think they genuinely lack confidence and if we had won a couple in the first few (which we should have) it might be a different story today

He talks in the first about too many tactics and formations. He doesn’t say it’s about us now but in his columns he’s clearly not particularly impressed with us at the moment although not as directly critical of the manager as Pejic for example.

Without a doubt Lou gave us some cracking times at the vic we did not know how to lose he also made some bang average players very good. What would we all give for some of that again now.

Lou macari era is responsible for me being a stokie
Working as a plasterer on Saturdays listening to radio stoke, so the labourer was kept happy soon rubbed off on me
I don’t mean the labourer rubbed off on me, I mean listening to Nige got me hooked 🙄

Having watched all three videos it's not hard to see how and why he was so successful as a manager here. A straight as a die, down to earth bloke with a sense of humour.
I wish we still had him.

The bloke just oozed charisma. Whenever he was being interviewed I was glued to the radio til he'd finished.
Seemed to have a blind side when signing keepers, but he was known for working on and improving strikers to the point where they could have played me in goal for that promotion campaign.
Call me crazy, call me what the feck you like, but that 3rd tier promotion season was my favourite bar none. Football heaven. Lou will always be my absolute Stoke idol.

Having watched all three vids, the most impressive thing to me is that Lou is a wonderful person. Like most supporters who were around at the time, his presence wormed its way into us in an amazingly good way. We adored the bloke and still do. I reckon that's because he has an inherent character that exudes many of the best traits of the most decent of human beings.
I too wish we had him around now.
OS.

The only people you could call crazy would be those that disagree with you mate. My favourite time also. I'd go back there tomorrow even in the third tier under him. Magical times.

It probably wasn't just the football. It just seemed a special time for many of us for many reasons. Music, fashion, drinking Newcie Brown before matches. It was all just great fun. Most of all though I can remember so many people talking about how Lou and his team had given us our pride back. We didn't just have favourite moments, we had favourite moments for each player. It's really hard to describe to anyone who wasn't there. I could talk all night about those times, those matches, everything. I'd probably best just shut up now though. 😎

I absolutely lived and breathed Stoke City home and away during the Macari years, absolutely the happiest times of my Stoke-supporting career.
Incredible looking back how much more I cared then than I do now, Lou and that era / those players were truly special and I’m sorry for those that didn’t experience it.
