I'm so confused. I am really glad Bruno is back, less so about Badou but I appreciate he is good player, but he said wanted to trim the squad. He said he wanted no more than 20 and now he's bringing some back when it's already over 20. And he brought in 11 and put, at least Bruno, in the bomb squad in the first place. It seems a bonkers way of doing things. To help your confusion, I think there are a few in the 20 who Jones now finds disappointing - just look at the results. He is now going to see what he can get out of those that are left like Bruno last night. With only 1 point he would be stupid to ignore any talent he has at his disposal. Everyone wants to blame the manager, but clearly there are players who have not performed to expectations and will be side-lined if they don't improve. Ah ok. I’ll expect to see the other back next week shall I? Imbula, Diouf, Wimmer. I’m talking about Ndiaye really not Bruno. Why Bruno was ever in the bomb squad I’ll never know. Re. N’Diaye, quite frankly we’ve had a problem with players not wanting to play for us for years. Too many of them got us relegated. And now someone whose literally said he doesn’t want to be here is being brought back in? Stoke fans seem to have short memories! NJ made a big song and dance about players wanting to play for us and now he’s bringing this guy back cos he’s failed to do anything with the other 20 odd plays he has (including the 11 he’s bought). Please excuse me while I don’t give him the manager of the month award.

If reports of Imbula's loan are correct and N'Daiye is brought into the fold, something I dont have a problem with, that leaves just Wimmer and Diouf in the bomb squad which is much better than I expected. Diouf has just one year left so I would expect a mutally agreed contract cancellation to leave him free to move in January leaving us with Wimmer having 3 years left on his deal and zero chance of moving him anywhere.

The continuation of the diamond is an open question. But if it is still to be the primary formation, interesting if Ndiaye is seen as a holder of one of the middle 2. You'd think he was more of an energetic player who'd be competiton for Clucas, Etebo and Allen? And BMI would make 5 centre-halves who'll all expect to play to go with the four number 10s. Maybe loans before the deadline to League 1 for Lindsay and Cousins and Verlinden to Europe? Smith Edwards Batth Collins Lindsay BMI CCVMcClean Ward Cousins Woods Allen Clucas Etebo Ndiaye Powell Ince Duffy Verliden Vokes Hogan Gregory Campbell I would have thought he'd try him in the holding role and see how it goes.

My recollection (it's been a while) of Badou is not that he's the automatic choice and the obvious 'solution' to the holding Mid at the base of the diamond.
He's a run around a lot kind of guy, good on the break isn't he?

Maybe Jones is sincere in his desire for a 22 man squad , but isn't it Chief Execs job to shift out players & do deals ?

Raiding my memory bank about what type of player he was and looking at how he was described, he doesn't sound much like a holding midfielder. www.stokesentinel.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/stoke-city-transfer-badou-ndiaye-1153840?123Lambert said: “He's more offensive I would say – but he will get up and down for you, so he will do his defensive duties as well. “I think he's very good at driving with the ball which is important for getting us up the pitch when we need to and he will get around about people, which is another important factor. www.reddit.com/r/StokeCityFC/comments/7ud6cb/you_guys_transferred_badou_ndiaye_so_pissed_at/He is unlike any player I have seen at Gala. He is very good at defending but also strong as an offensive player. Basically an all round hard working midfield player, you can't get him tired. He compared to N'Golo Kante by many supporters. I honestly believe he could play easily at chelsea or man utd. You guys won't able to keep him for long if he plays like he always does.www.reddit.com/r/soccer/comments/7tzwzc/stoke_have_agreed_a_fee_of_15m_with_galatasaray/This is my favourite active player. He is fucking awesome. Great attitude, physically gifted, good technique. A really nice guy too, the two times I met him and talked to him. Hope he will do well for Stoke.
Fast, strong, runs for days, great passer/dribbler, alright at defending- definitely worth the £15m
We'd have needed him in our battle for the title. Sad to see him leave, he's a proper beast, and pl will suit him well.
This ties in with his half a season with us doesn't it? From what I remember he was very energetic, could carry the ball well and his tracking back and tackling was excellent. He even scored at one point I think? I’d have him in the 2 with Etebo (surely the best CM partnership in the league if both can find form) with Woods the base and Powell in front if he can get/stay fit. Ince/Duffy if not.

He really should have kept his mouth shut on some issues, eh? Honestly!! He said he wanted 20 Outfield players! NOT INCLUDING THE KIDDIES! Verlinden, Campbell, and Collins are still classed as kiddies on the periphery! I won’t include Edwards due to number of games played! And the Shawcross comment! Wow does anyone think CCV would be here if Shawcross was fit!!! So yes even with Badou and Indi he has a squad of 20 Outfield players WITHOUT THR KIDDIES!!! The guy can’t do anything at the moment without someone miss quoting him and then attacking him!!!

As was Tyrese? Which is why we couldn’t have another striker unless Afobe went?

Given the gravitas of the game this weekend with the window still open there is no way he gets into the first team given his recent history.
Crawley away is the ideal possible first game, if he's still here.

They never appreciated the enormity of the task which was tough when Rowett arrived and he made it even tougher. They are far too impatient. It took years for Norwich and Sheff Utd managers to get their teams promoted and they probably started from a better position than Jones with all the poison, players wanting to leave, dead legs. etc. Jones gave every player bar a few a chance, some more than others, but including a few youngsters. He now has a new squad virtually. It is going to take a long time to drill them into an effective outfit. We need to be patient. It took Hughes till November in his first season to turn his squad into a regular winning team. Posters on here were screaming for him to be sacked in October, by May we finished 9th. Sheffield United: On 12 May 2016, Wilder joined his boyhood club Sheffield United as their new manager on a three-year contract, following the parting of company with Nigel Adkins. In pre-season he was able to bring some new players in, with little financial backing, a lot of his acquisitions were free transfers. ........ Wilder's managerial League One debut didn't get off to a good start. Having only gained a single point from the first 4 games left United at the bottom of League One.

I could not give a running f**k about how many players he said he ( Nathan Jones) needs in a squad - I think he was talking about his ideals
reality has been otherwise - so what ?
that is irrelevant. This is about winning football matches
not picking at detail - he knows that too
if he needs 30 or 40 players in a squad, so blooming what ?
yes its currently different to what he said
so blooming what ? ( again)
people picking away at dross and minuti
Meanwhile if Badou decides to come back into the fold- he'll have to transform the entire team in order to change my opinion of him
makes Jese Look like a bloody choirboy too !

he’s very much in the Etebo mould. Can drive with the ball, but passing he can not. Didn’t exactly dominate any games in the premier league, don’t know why anyone would be so desperate for him back in the team.

Neither Badou nor BMI were in the bomb squad, just missing from match day squads. Both have been training with the first team and been given squad numbers. I suspect we were waiting to see if they were definitely staying before playing them. Not sure how this ties in with only playing players who want to play for Stoke.

Thinking about it I wouldn't play badou until after the European window has closed. He could put in a deliberate sub standard performance in an effort to get a move abroad so wouldnt give him the chance, but you watch the difference when it's our first team or nothing

Thought he was dancing on eggshells & tip-toeing massively through the 'can you conform Badou?' conundrum.
He might rock up (but with what effect, given he has no match fitness) but equally, would't be surprised if he is still pencilled in for a flight to Turkey or somewhere similar next week.
Edit:
... and my goodness, he's "flat as" on there. He's either got a massively sore throat or the wind is right out of his sails currently.

I thought he was less irritating than usual but there’s not a lot to give you hope. We’re winging it from one game to the next now it seems and when asked what he’s expecting from Birmingham - “a tough championship game” and proceeds just to tell us about their recent scores. And you wonder why people are questioning whether we study the opposition before we play them...

I've just seen however that my inadvertent spelling pistake (sic) actually makes for a better question -in other words:
"Can you get Badou to conform ?"
i.e. get the bugger to play and play well ?
Either way, it was still a waffle.

Either way, it was still a waffle. It would be easier for him to just pre-record them from now on: 1. We need to be better 2. We’re expecting a tough championship game 3. Nick Powell is injured 4. I have no idea what team I’ll put out

Another little piece on Bruno and Badou on the club twitter and website. So they have been in the bomb squad because they “read” stuff about possible offers coming in from Turkey but now they are back in because none of the offers were realistic?
