18 in the last 88 league games so we're getting worse. Not forgetting the small matter that we now play Preston and Charlton rather than Man City and Chelsea as we were for most of the period measured! We're in fecking free fall there's no doubt about that.

Bit of a slow day at work so I thought I'd do some digging on Wikipedia. Here goes: Every game, league and cup, from the first leg onwards (upto and including Preston): P 159 W 41 D 51 L 67 Just the league games: P 144 W 35 D 50 L 59 Do you know how this compares to Bolton's history since their last cup semi final? Canny, init.

Since we've been relegated, we've conceded the first goal in 23 of the 50 games we've played. We've won seven points from those games. 5 from 12 games under Rowett and 2 from 11 under Jones.

So when the opposition score after 5 minutes and I turn round to my mate and say 'game over' thinking I'm the world's funniest man in fact I'm not wrong!

I was getting pelters for saying we wouldn't win at 0-1 down Wednesday (I say pelters, it was more zerps being a fanny) Having said that, surely by the law of averages if not by any footballing nous, there has to be a game where we come from behind to win, score three goals, or even do both of those things soon, surely π―

Now: little flair, little heart That right there is the cause of the decline I'm sure if Denise was at the helm its be much different I honestly believe we'd be on a similar footing to Leicester or Wolves if Denise ran the show, but she isn't interested. (I'm not saying we'd have won the League like Leicester but we'd be on a par with them commercially and recruitment-wise). Why? She has no interest in football. Less in Stoke City. Coates senior has an interest in football and got lucky twice in Macari and Pulis. His success rate was about one in 7. John seems to be replicating it.

Post-Pulis before Hughes lost the plot? Yeah, around that time. It would be interesting to see the level of collapse after that night. It's widely accepted that the semi at Liverpool on 26th January was the start of the decline, and I'm as guilty as anyone for thinking along those lines. Strangely though, our form over the next 9 league games if replicated over the whole season would have given us a higher points haul (59) than we accomplished for the three 9th place finishes (50,54,51). This is up to and including the draw at Swansea on 2nd April. It was after this that our form fell off the cliff. The next match after Swansea was a defeat. At Anfield.

Doesn't that suggest that we lack 'fighting spirit' because once we go a goal down we end up losing. The lack of aggression and Pride in the Badge being the problem?

And it highlights the fact that under Rowett we managed to come back from a goal down almost half the time. Under Jones so far, we have come back from conceding a goal in less than one in five games. Thatβs hardly progress. We really need the tide to start turning today.
