You weren't talking about 'our current predicament' though, you were talking about relegation. There's no guarantee you'll 'rise back up again'. No guarantee that the world doesn't end tommorrow either, but I'd put money on both us coming back up and the world not ending tomorrow. No guarantees mind. It would be shit to go down though, yes?

I don’t see why we need anyone. This is the managerial team’s job. I’m sure lots of teams do this though??

Is that possibly a bit generous? Some good signings, but they’ve got a fair few expensive flops too? That's great, especially now we have an even more bloated squad, dont think he'll need to recruit anyone for another season or two

I don't see how you can take this guy on then sack Jones a couple of games later. It's not going to happen is it.

I'm not sure, if the Board think he's good, then he's good, whether Nathan is there or not. Besides which they surely can't just be going solely on Nath's word after the summer hiring!

I don't see how you can take this guy on then sack Jones a couple of games later. It's not going to happen is it. Sounds like this has been a done deal for weeks though, and he's just been working out his notice. Even Brighton sources were saying it was done a month ago. theathletic.co.uk/1167973/2019/08/28/locadia-joining-hoffenheim-on-loan-after-14m-signing-failed-to-shine-at-brighton/And he is not the only imminent departure from the Amex. Phil Chapple, the club’s UK scouting manager, is joining Stoke. He will be reunited at the Championship club with manager Nathan Jones after working with the former Brighton defender, assistant manager and caretaker manager at Charlton.
Chapple will not be replaced at the Amex. The recruitment department has been overloaded since Potter brought analyst Kyle Macaulay, a 33-year-old former midfielder for Derby County and Aberdeen, with him from Swedish side Ostersunds and Swansea.
Stoke are restructuring their recruitment team. The former Brighton goalkeeper Mark Cartwright is leaving on September 15 after six years as the club’s technical director.Unless he gets a win in the next couple, NJ just can't survive, can he? He's running on fumes as it is.

Is that possibly a bit generous? Some good signings, but they’ve got a fair few expensive flops too? I agree Toxic Avenger. All of Brighton's money signings during Chapple's first transfer window in the summer of 17/18 came from Europe, and most of last season's signings were from Europe too. Of the 19 players bought in from Europe during Chapple's time at Brighton, only 7 were considered match day squad standard. But their flops have actually been their biggest money signings (Jahanbakhsh, Locadia, Bissouma...), to the tune of £62m being pissed up the wall! It's not surprising that Hughton apparently blamed Brighton's recruitment for their struggles last season. So to say I'm rather underwhelmed that Chapple is now our new Head of Recruitment, when we're already jackknifed from an absolute walloping of big money failures over the past few years, is an understatement! I sure as hell hope Chapple's knowledge of home-based players is better than his assessment of those on the Continent!

Although it's interesting that the Brighton journo above, who's been their local paper bloke for 3 decades (and is apparently a Stoke fan) describes Chapple as the "UK scouting manager" whatever that means - rather than European scout? And even if he was at some point the European scout, it's hard to know how far up the decision-making pole he was there www.wearebrighton.com/newsopinion/should-paul-winstanley-be-following-chris-hughton-out-the-door/The head of recruitment is the guy who seems to be getting stick

Funny how there's only a few posts commenting on the appointment when there were PAGES complaining that the appointment was taking too long to sort out.
Sums things up for me.

You can't comment on something you have no knowledge on, like what remit he has, his exact role etc. Expect that will explained in due course.

I just don't see how they can now turn around within a couple of weeks and sack the manager. The way this has been done is exactly the reason we're in this massive shit storm.

Hackett, logically you would think not, but say for arguments sake we have a couple of points from 10 games, 3 or 4 from a possible 30 doe's that make his position untenable, especially if we are say 9 points adrift??

What on earth is a 'UK scouting manager'?
This football lark is a right racket. Money for old rope and jobs for the boys.
What next, a UK scouting administrator?
