Well Clark did live in a home worthy of a Bond Villain.... His diaries and 'Barbarossa' are both enjoyable reads too. He liked a 'bit on the side' too. Not only did he once do a Judge but he did her 18 year old daughters too. What a rotter. πππ

Richard Nixon. Despite the obvious flaws, a compelling character. Being ripped off by Kennedy in 1960 left him deeply scarred. 1960 was the germ of Watergate.

One of your favourite politicians? He was a devious, lying sh1te. So I suppose politics was made for him and vice versa. Even before he was elected, his actions over Vietnam peace talks in 1968 alone would be enough for me to despise him.
I've no particular party allegiance so those I do like:
Tony Benn, for all the reasons given above
Ruth Davidson
Screaming Lord Sutch
Patrick from Spongebobsquarepants. Let's face it, he wouldn't be any worse than the current crop of loons, failures and social misfits.

Oh there's a lot to dislike about him. And I dislike it too. But compelling.

Watching The Vietnam War at the moment. There's a conversation where he lies to Johnson about the peace talks. Chilling. Mind you, even Kennedy lied about Vietnam. Great series, though.

Like others have said, Denis Healey seemed very likeable. I watched a documentary on him a while back, and he broke down when reading a poem about his old regiment in the war. Showed a different side to him and was very touching.
Always found Tony Benn to be very good to listen to. Didn't agree with everything he said, but I thought he was sincere and a cracking speaker.

That documentary really uncovers just how paranoid he was, that bit you mention is one of the most startling of the whole series.

They have some really good stuff on the PBS America channel - thoroughly watchable even if I do have to take out my anti - septic *** chip every night to swtich it on.

Yeah I know. War is failure. Sickening. Kissinger got the Nobel peace prize for bombing Cambodia. I didn't say I liked what he instructed in Vietnam.

"Interesting" and "Likeable" are two separate things and hopefully Joe has got the two mixed up.
I'm obsessed with the life and times of Adolf Hitler and find myself repulsed by everything he held dear, yet I find the Third Reich absolutely fascinating. Same with Stalin to a lesser extent and I find him even more abominable than Hitler.
Richard Nixon is without doubt the most evil President the US has ever had. I include all slave-holding POTUSes in that as well before anyone questions.
The man was a spy, a liar, a backstabber, and purposefully and cold-bloodedly extended a war that was wiping out thousands of Americans for his own political mileage.
The USA is well known for war-mongering but this piece of shit must clearly take the record as the premier most willing to kill US Servicemen to satisfy his own personal whims.
I hope there is a hell, so that people like Richard Nixon can burn in it.
