Because of health problems I am unable to travel the distance to watch stoke on a regular basis so this thread is about a lifelong stoke fan getting his regular Saturday afternoon fix of live football

Well here we go first game of the season home to aveley In The isthmian division one north
Arrived at 2.30 and surprised to find my regular parking spot was still available Hobbled to the turnstile with my seven year old grandson showed are newly bought season tickets ( cost fifty pounds the pair ) made are way to the bar and saw the team sheet the atmosphere was full of new season optimism
First half Dereham where the better side throughout With our new striker controlling the ball in the box laying the ball back to our left winger who rifles the ball into the bottom corner 1-0 Dereham Five minutes to half time Dereham corner hit to the far post centre half nods it across goal in to the top corner Half time 2-0 Dereham
NO BOVRIL not impressed
Second half Dereham start brightly pressing for a third Aveley breakaway Dereham fullback and centre half retreating further than the tide at Skegness allow the winger to run thirty yards and slot the ball in to the bottom corner 2-1
Four minutes later keeper comes out to claim the ball and strands himself in no mans land there you go 2-2 It just never ceases to amaze how Dereham can find a way of throwing a two goal lead away again
Game slowly peters out to a 2-2 draw
Conclusion not a bad start against last seasons runner up But must find a way of holding on to a lead
Attendance 201 not to bad as Norwich at home
Onwards and upwards Cambridge city away Wednesday night

Sorry to hear about your health issues and hope you can get back to Stoke for at least a few games. It's great you are still taking your grandson to live football at least, even if it isn't here in the Potteries!
Up the Dereham, unless they draw us in the FA Cup!

I went to see Aveley play hornchurch a few years ago when working at Thurrock, I think they've moved to a new ground now.

Well here we go again tonight’s thrilling instalment Cambridge city Away
Well we all meet up for one of our local derbies the hundred and twenty mile round trip to Histon who currently host Cambridge city
We arrive in plenty of time to what can only be described as a very neat and well presented stadium sample a couple of pints reasonable in quality and price then a quick burger before kick off best pre match food in a long time
KO : Dereham dominate the early stages and than the ref decides it’s all about him and starts to give what can only be described as a one Man stand up comedy show and finally awards a baffling penalty to Cambridge The Dereham keeper dives to his left and clutches the ball
Ten minutes later the Dereham keeper flys to his right and tips a certain goal round his post beginning to think our selves lucky to be level at half time there is a last minute scramble in the Cambridge area and Dereham go one up
No bloody bovril at half time again ( angry face thing)
Second half pretty even with both keepers pulling off numerous good saves until the ball drops to the Cambridge midfielder who wallops one in from 25 yards
The game finishes 1-1 Overall good away point to a strong team Two games two draws
Upwards and onwards to spalding away Saturday fa Cup

Cup fever :
Despite every attempt over the years by the fa to take the shine off the fa Cup there’s still that tingle on Cup day
Saturday lunchtime me and my eldest son set off for the 90 minute run to spalding We arrive at the slightly dilapidated ground to find there was only a council car park available 90p all day well done Lincolnshire council
We proceed to the bar to find it packed with Dereham fans who had traveled on the club coach My piss was colder than the pint of cider
KO : Both aides create the odd chance in what can best be described as most un football like weather spalding then in the space of ten minutes lose both centre halves to injury We carve out several more chances as the half concludes hitting the bar and one headed off the line as we start what for me is the long hobble to the other end for the bar spalding break away defensive mix up 1-0 spalding
HT dominated play unlucky not to be in front ah well bonus there is BOVRIL The score of the stoke game filters through via a couple of Leeds fans god this could be a long afternoon
Second half commences with exchanges at both ends a goalkeeping error gifts dereham a equaliser 1-1 five minutes later good passing and movement between the Dereham front two and its a goal here we go a cup run
As we stand there contemplating who we want in the next round spalding fashion a corner player unmarked at the far post heads home 2 -2
With what looks like a replay Tuesday week the Dereham winger sets off on a mazy run and falls over in the box to the amazement of the majority of the crowd me included the ref points to the spot 3-2 Dereham
Injury time with spalding pressure mounting they get a free kick there goalkeeper goes forward the ball breaks the Dereham striker receives the ball moves forward hits the ball from fifty yards along the deck and curls the fourth in to the bottom corner
Full time : 4-2 Dereham the cup run is on tired and slightly sunburned I can finally leave those pissing gloating Leeds fans to the club coach journey

Well here goes I’ve calmed down enough to be semi lucid
Home match to soham town
Well it was certainly hot at this rate I’m in serious danger of losing my pub white complexion
Myself my two eldest sons and my regular companion in suffering my seven year old grandson meet up in the clubhouse before the game discuss the team sheet a very attack minded selection
Ko pretty much even first twenty half chances at both ends when there is a Dereham breakaway and a clever inter passing between the forwards results in a pullback and the centre midfielder slots home 1-0 Dereham
Straight from kick off the Dereham defence parts like the Red Sea and the soham striker has a clear run on goal and slots home
The game descends into amble mode and half time is reached 1-1 probably a fair reflection on a half which was pretty poor entertainment
NO BLOODY BOVRIL this is beginning to reach piss taking proportions
Second half begins with Dereham showing all the urgency of the magic roundabouts dillion after his third spliff after a period of scrappy play the Dereham defence retreat faster than napoleon legging it from Russia To the on rushing soham striker 1-2
Dereham then start a series of substitutes playing with three strikers Soham very cleverly but on rhe odd occasion cynical comfortabley see the game out not one Dereham attempt on target second half
1-2 away win Attendance 234 a very good turnout
In reflection to choose two dwarfs as centre midfielders with all the physical presence of a jelly beggars belief

Watched Stoke's Nathan Broome keep a clean sheet again on loan at Mickleover Sport. Gaining confidence every match and made some good saves particularly a brave block at a striker's feet and a double save which wouldn't have counted for offside but he wasn't to know that. That's one goal conceded in three games now.

Cup fever 2
Well it’s the first qualifying round of the fa Cup Dereham find themselves home to higher league opponents needham market
We arrive at the ground in what can best be described as a brisk north west wind not expecting much of a spectacle we were wrong
Dereham playing with the wind in the first half apply sustained early pressure on the needham goal carving out numerous chances sadly mostly off target The game then settles down to a entertaining nil - nil ht score line Dereham much the better side
Yeah BOVRIL at half time
Second half commences and Dereham continue to carve out the better chances negating the wind by playing the ball on the deck With the game looking very much like a well earned replay The young Dereham midfielder goes on a mazy run towards the penalty area passes the ball back to a unmarked teammate 1-0 Dereham We dare to dream
With three minutes left the ball breaks loose in the Dereham area and needham stab the ball home 1-1 so much for dreams
FT 1-1 replay
Attendance 252
Large crowd saw what was a very entertaining game with Dereham well deserving the Chance to finish the job in Suffolk Tuesday night
Attention now switches to Monday’s draw were in the hat

My non league journey took me to Gloucestershire for Sharpness 3 v Hardwicke 1. Via a couple of Good Beer Guide Pubs, the sun was out and a breeze off the River Severn made it a relaxing, enjoyable day. The game saw plenty of vigour with neither side compremissing, no bad language only 2 yellow cards for mistimed challenges and played in the spirit of the game.

Cup fever 2.1
We find ourselves traveling the relatively short 100 mile round trip to Suffolk for the replay against needham market
We arrive at what is a very nice compact ground and had a decent pint and the food was reasonable
Ko The game starts at a fairly frantic pace but settles down with chances at both ends with Dereham looking to reach ht nil nil with three minutes to go the Dereham keeper drops a cross at the strikers feet one nil needham
HT 1-0
With a couple of changes at half time Dereham start to dominate play without showing a cutting edge Mid way through the second half the Dereham striker finds himself one on one but the keeper saves well
After a couple more chances go begging the needham striker capitalises on a sloppy piece of Dereham defending and slots the ball home from six yards 2-0 needham
As the game enters extra time Dereham are awarded a soft penalty and slot it home after a hectic final four minutes needham hold out for a 2-1 win the cup dream is over for another year
FT 2-1
Attendance 234
Played a higher division team and over 180 minutes more than matched them Close but out hey didn’t fancy a trip to the seaside anyway

Fuckin hell imagine following a team where it would be something of a giant-killing to overcome a team called Needham Market.
Don't get me wrong by the way I love this thread. I salute you wag.
