In a world where Adam Webster has recently been sold for over £20m, we should be getting an eye watering amount for him in the next 12-24 months. 21m then, left to our negotiating team. I wouldn’t back them to get that much.

Wigan boys, Wigan.
Actually Wigans 2nd team.
Eze showed us what he is going to be like. He has everything to prove and we will ship goals in the league when he plays.
He should have gone out on loan.

He got put on his arse by a very good player, it comes with the territory. I find this comment very odd when we shipped more goals away at Charlton and he didn't even play. But I forgot we're not allowed to be excited by anything. For an 18 year old, he's exceptional and last night our centrebacks controlled the ball better than I've seen us do in a long time. Positive distribution is absolutely key and stops what we've seen from Shawcross and Batth in recent years in terms of simply plodding it around the back line because they can't pick a pass.

Nathan Stones Against QPR he put in some absolutely superb tackles, he's not just a "passer". Eze also jinked his way past our entire midfield on the way to goal leaving Collins exposed 1 on 1. Even the best defenders get done 1 on 1 because it's not a situation they should be in often if their midfield is doing their job properly. I've seen Shawcross give loads of penalties away when he's been exposed 1 on 1. The use of Stones as a pejorative term when he literally plays for the best manager in the world is a bit odd too. I don't get what's not to like from one of our top youth prospects playing well in a game he's been selected in?

The same poster was drooling over Lindsay’s performance at Charlton- to me there was no difference in Lindsay’s performance when compared to Collins v QPR. Where Collins was dumped on his bum by Eze, Lindsay ( and the rest of the defence) went completely missing leaving guys unmarked 8 yards out for two of the Charlton goals? I really don’t understand the criticism.

Just hope there isn't a 20m release clause in his deal as it's pretty clear he's going to be worth a lot more than that in today's transfer market.
He's ready to play every week now. Should be him and Lindsay in a 2 - and those 2 and CCV in a 3

But he looks like he can play.....

You could see it after 10 minutes of his debut, not to mention the way everyone in the academy spoke about him. If it is 20m, you could see a big club taking him in January or next summer....just because they can!

Mick McCarthy is well aware of him already, and has name-checked him several times. I'd be surprised if he hasn't had him watched over the past few weeks. Collins and (Shane) Duffy would compliment each other perfectly, although John Egan is beginning to emerge, and he looks decent.
As far as Stoke is concerned, we now have the personnel to persist with a three at the back (last night's combination), all of whom are big and strong and can play. Also, they all look like good communicators, which is really important. Does NJ have the courage to do this, though? It's a big call.

I can personally see another contract in January putting him on first team wages with promises around game time and potentially captaincies And a massive/no release clause.

Like I said above Bayern, the reality is IF and it’s a massive IF there is a clause it’s probably the only way he and his agent would agree to him signing a long term contract and if that clause wasn’t inserted he wouldn’t of signed Of course it may be all bollocks anyway

Good call. It is a long time since I have been so excited by such a young prospect. I fist saw him at Middlesbrough last season when he quietly went about his business, but I was struck by him in the QPR match on how self confident he was and he seems to have "filled out". I felt for him when they scored their second goal and feared it would set him back. But nothing of it, he is a massive prospect. I hope the club can hold onto him long enough for us get real value out of him on the pitch and win something. That’s the dream isn’t it. And he is that good. We’ve just got to play him now. I think surprisingly there are similarities to him and De Ligt in as much as stature and temperament, at such a young age. Of course both are young centre halves but Collins needs to be trusted now to be our main centre back in the heart of the defence now. The more games he plays, the more his value increases. If he moves on we get paid, if he doesn't then I've no doubt as he gains experience we will climb.

Just wondering because of your Irish connections and username! Or maybe you are Don?

Chester, I am not Don Mullan, but I know him very well, having published a few books for him in the past. Don invited me some years ago to the launch of his book (sadly, not one of mine) on Gordon Bank's influence on him growing up in Derry. As a budding goalkeeper, he credited GB for keeping him out of The Troubles at a time when everyone was forced to "take sides". It was at that launch that I had the great privilege of having a long chat with GB and Terry Conroy, two humble, honourable men who wore their rare gifts very lightly.

I did read Don’s book about Gordon quite recently so do know that story! I also read Terry’s book a couple of years back and that was a good read too.

Can I just add to the above post, that I have met Terry Conroy once or twice over the years, and I love the bloke to bits. Great player, and used to love watching him. Very modest in my opinion, and that is how I like blokes to be!

He has it all. His potential is absolutely massive.
Perhaps the most impressive thing for me, and the reason I think he’ll reach the very top, is his hunger for the ball. Constantly looking to get on the ball and take responsibility.
He’ll be a very successful player of that I’d be fairly sure.
