Massive improvement today. I wasn’t impressed with the Charlton performance, and we started very slowly today - we were shocking for the first twenty minutes, but once we scored, we looked a different team.
Energy and pressing all over the pitch, plenty of width and a lot more intensity. We looked a proper threat going forward, movement was much better and Woods is really starting to look like the player we all though he was when he got here. McClean was fantastic, and I fucking love Gregory.
With that said - defensively, we just continue making daft mistakes and we threw the game away.
I though Jones made the right substitutions today, too. Although we were controlling the game, we kept getting caught out on the break and he recognized that. He brought on Collins and went three at the back, which I thought was a shrewd change.
We’ve got to get better at the back, but mostly positives for me today.

Well it's not good enough is it. Are you seriously happy with 1 point fro 9? It's relegation form Yeah but we won against Wigan, and if we're just using an arbitrarily small sample of games you then could just say well winning 100% of the games in the sample is promotion winning form. Don't get me wrong, you can reply and cite longer term form, because indeed that's a sensible platform to make an argument on. Or you could realise that this season has to be judged as a fresh start with a new squad and we’re making progress every game from a very small selection of games.

Yep, I'm a big fan of NJ but he has even said he has to see the problems in the squad but he is being a blind idiot at the moment. Looking forward to you giving up I know he's going to be selected. His contract is the only logical reason he is undroppable, especially after today. I know NJ is likely hand tied, but I'd like or hope to see him put in Etebo its the one link left for a winning team.

It's a point against the drop, that's all we can see it as - it's 3 wins for Jones in 20 odd matches which remains relegaton form

Apparently that Allen sitter was 39% likely to be scored.
This is why expected goals is bollocks, I turned away cheering before he missed.
Definitely 80% at least.

NJ's strategy in the window was to create a hard working team of tryers, low on quality for a system that didn't suit them. I think that's what he's getting. The team gave all that could be asked, but this is not bad luck: We are now a hard working team, low on quality in key areas - notably up front. The result is that we are doing better in possession, but suffering from missed chances and conceding silly goals .
Edwards needs to come in for Smith. Etebo to start (for Allen). Powell and Ince to both start if possible (i'd consider Powell as the second striker to hold up play and find space). Its a limited hand though. Don't think this team will be relegated, but still don't see it being above 12th-16th either.

It was better but Derby were extremely poor yet went through out defence like a knife through butter. Smith was marking thin air all match, every time they got on our right hand side they got straight through to the penalty area. This diamond needs dropping, it's an unbalanced and flawed formation.

Hogan should have been replaced a bit sooner, looked like he was carrying a knock. We missed Ince when he went off, would have preferred Woods or Allen off. McLean MOTM for me

12 shots with 1 on target in the first half.
We need some quality rather than quantity shot.

How we managed not to win today is really a riddle to me! Another two in the woodwork, and how could Allen miss the first one! Thought their penalty looked cheap, and I really don't understand why Batth was denied a penalty when he clearly was pulled back in the box. All in all we played very well and really should have won comfortably, but again all those fine margains go against us. Still we got our first point and we are making progress, no doubt about that.

Even we used to win 1-0 but had 2 shots on goal, we would say we were resilient, not that we got 'twatted'. We drew 2-2, Derby matched us in attack, we did nothing of real produce in the midfield as usual apart from doing well in possession, teams let us if you hadn't noticed, and up front we were toothless as per usual. I'm not seeing much of a difference apart from the effort. We are the opposite of clinical, Derby were clinical enough as were every other team we have failed to defeat. Basically, there's a common denominator, we lack quality. Not surprising from a team of tryers.

But we didn't win and Waghorn should have really finished the game. What a fucking stupid thing to say. What you're saying is: "We can't say we should have won, as we can't count the multiple chances we had to finish the game off because we didn't take them. Derby should actually have won because of one chance they also didn't take which we will count"

Lots of new accounts slating stoke here. The things I'm reading are accurate. Ok a draw its ok by all accounts, not good, not bad. It could have been worse couldn't it? Defensibly quite terrible at times, midfield toothless and attack, what attack? Lots of shots again, check. Lots off target, check. One or 2 on target? Check, the % must on average be around the 13% mark... Embarrassing. Lots of possession? Check. Low on quality with lots of effort? Identity? It's clear as day that we have an identity it's just not particularly good and won't get us promoted.
