Yeah but you can’t overpay but something be worth every penny. I get your point, just poor choice of words more than anything. Liverpool overpaid for Van Dijk but he’s been worth every penny to them In modern terms i thought Liverpool paid good money for Van Dijk, he was a beast before he joined them. The way the current market is i thought they got him at a bargain price.

The very definition of overpaying is the opposite to that of something being worth every penny. It simply doesn’t work. They overpaid at the time as he was decent but untested at the very top level. He has since proved himself to be worth every penny No, you thought they overpaid, they actually got a bargain. Liverpool follow the Moneyball approach which says you spend what it takes to fix the weakest part of the team and they did this with Van Dijk and Allison

People will have thought it was an overpayment, but with hindsight he has proved to be worth every penny.

i really believe that scott hogan is good for over 15 goals at least for us this season. Ignoring any goals he may score, his harassment of the opposition is helping us to pin teams back against the ropes, we just need to finish them off.

Saw his stats for the charlton game. Pretty standard Hogan. Barely touches the ball and rarely makes passes to team mates. I worry for you boys if you're relying on him to shoot you up the table. On a side note, it seems we dodged a huge £25 million bullet with Butland. What's happened to him? One game in and three goals conceded from Heaton. We’ll see I guess..... And yesterday he conceded an absolutely stupid penalty after 45 seconds...……..

Hogan has been awarded the first goal on Saturday, EFL ruled it as his, not going to a dubious goals panel

It's a good sign for a striker when the ball hits them and goes in. Normally something that happens to a player in form.

More concerned about a recall option at the moment. Just as if . Let's not get ahead of ourselves. He did excellent on Saturday. One swallow doesn't make a summer, he's not suddenly going be recalled to play in the Premier League

Always nice to see a forward get off the mark quickly. Him and Gregory look decent together.

Watching Hogans goal back reminded me very much of a Peter Thorne'esque type finish.. Great ball arrowed into the box & a sliding finish with a pin point rasping shot into the back of the net. More of the same would be awesome.

More concerned about a recall option at the moment. They can’t recall him Plus in a recent interview Hogan was asked about an option and he said he hoped that all will be sorted on that front.

interesting that Jamie vardy played up front for Stocksbridge Park steels 2007 to 2010
then left , to be replaced by Scott Hogan , who played up front for Stocksbridge Park Steels 2011 to 2012
That's pretty good going , for a team at their level .
They have had better strikers than premier league /championship clubs , in the Staffordshire area :-)

Do I remember hearing that this is his last year of contract? 2021, we'd get a reasonable deal with only a year left you would think.
