Jones has to go His system doesn't work - his record tells you that. We've been unlucky in a couple of times but 2wins out of 23 and against this calibre of opposition is abysmal. He must be expecting it. He is a nice guy but not for Stoke. Another mistake Peter!
Did David Moyes just wake up this morning and think “where can I go then for a good wet Wednesday night out”? 🙄 Hmmmmmm!
With the chairman down to the cleaner stating that promotion is this seasons aim, they can not fail to be alarmed by NJs record. So with this seasons objective and NJs current record in mind how on earth do you play this one? Do we go for the he will turn it around approach and use Christmas as a cut off?, do we accept that the task is huge and re-define this seasons objective? or do we follow the much trodden path of crisis clubs and sack him sooner rather than later?
I honestly don’t have a clue how I feel about this, maybe the last 2 1/2 seasons have dumbed my SCFC senses, but apart from the self depreciating humour of another lame performance and defeat, I find myself caring less, and erring towards, just accept until we have got rid of all the deadwood, which may take 3 years, sorted out the finances and back room then our target is to survive in the championship. Strange times
That is an excellent post that perhaps doesn’t fully reflect the issues we have at the moment.
I really do not to understand the failure of the leadership from the top over the last four years.
1. Scholes established a floored “recruitment strategy” to remove Pulis 2. Hughes was a busted flush and was employed far beyond his sell by date 3. The appointment of Paul Lambert (who I respect) demonstrated a failure to “PLAN” 4. The employment of Rowett was a gamble based on sand. He’d achieved nothing.
I can fully understand the logic of employing NJ however, if it wasn’t for 3 and 4 above he would be out of a job by now based on results. I sincerely hope things quickly change for the better.
Perhaps I’m deflated after last nights performance and result but I really can’t see us being promoted back to the promised land in the near future.
Whose door would I lay the blame at? The family, for not being bold enough and sacking a CEO who has IMHO been protected by success until leadership was required and he failed.
I watched his interview, his eyes 👀 are really wide and “poor” was mentioned a dozen times.
I think some of the comments last night won’t help, where has this cousins now gone? Not good enough...
Where’s the due diligence. Where’s the working tirelessly...
Great sentiments. But if Karl Pilkington was on here, he’d fly in and state “bullshit”.
We needed, he needed a good start. We’re spiralling and I don’t know what the answer is, last nights performance was really really poor against a bog standard championship side. We haven’t even played anyone yet.
The stats don’t lie and can you really be unlucky for 20+ games???
I don’t think so.
Our form since he joined we have 21pts in 23 league games (half a season) that’s relegation!!!!
WBA finished below us in our Prem relegation season, have appointed what looked like 2 managers with the capacity to go badly wrong, handled departures of big players and seem to have adapted...like a duck to water.
Even Swansea, without a pot to piss in, sail relatively serenely on.
Stoke, on the other hand, aspire to be mediocre.
And actually managed to comfortably lose to bloody QPR, one of the worst Championship teams of the last decade - and account for 25% of their points from their last 24 games.
While also losing, of course, to the other shambles club of the period, Millwall.
How many games do think the board will give Jones taking into consideration last seasons form? A lot of people say from the start 10 games but if we lose the next 2/3 they're likely to take action. Its a shame its hard to dislike Jones but we just did not look like a team last night, Saturday we did. We've not had difficult fixtures to start with either yet after 4 games we're bottom of the league and on paper have the most difficult game yet on Saturday. Let's hope he can turn it around starting on against Leeds but who's confident? We have to make big changes starting in goal with butland, Allen and give carters vickers and Collins ago they can't be any worse!
If we lost every game between now and the international break I think they'd pull the trigger.
If not I think they'll stick with him as long as possible......
Agreed. They'd have to you have start realising you're not a promotion team anymore and looking over your shoulder.
I personally didn't think promotion should have even been mentioned this season, I think most fans would have been happy with entertaining football, real signs of progress on the pitch and a sense of pride in the team being restored.
Up until last night I saw signs of progress albeit the results weren't great, I think last night has knocked the stuffing out of most people because it was so bad. On the flip side though until Butland's error we started well and on the front foot.
It's all talk though, we need a couple of victories so everyone associated with the club on and off the pitch can take a deep breath and relax a bit.....
