He got the best single season scoring figures for us in a PL then was dropped and then played at right back. He had lots about him and Hughes wasted it. For a long time he was our ‘best option’ up front but Hughes kept preferring anyone else. Moving him to right back ruined any strikers instinct he had which was his best trait being in the right place at the right time. I am/was a Diouf fan, but towards the end of the relegation season he was getting harder and harder to defend after som poor showings and equally poor missed. Time to move on camp for me. For what it’s worth the guy is incredible in the air, but we barely ever crossed it to him. It’s been so fucking infuriating to watch. Oh God yeah he’s got to go but that doesn’t change that I think he’s been treated really badly over his time here. The crossing thing was maddening.

In an article in the norwegian press last year he told that he would move back to Norway in a couple of years and play for Molde again. Make sense, since his wife is from Molde.

He’s been a good servant and his attitude has been excellent. Never come out and criticised anyone and has generally just got on with it. Time to go now but leaves with my best wishes.

I can’t believe some people are actually blaming Hughes for his failure. The bottom line is, he’s a very poor footballer who was extremely lucky to get as far as he did, by all accounts a really nice guy but that won’t carry you for long.

We just didn’t give the bomb squad numbers. Bit harsh on Diouf IMO. He’s never not given 100 per cent but became a bit useless - probably no worse than Afobe though.

The tail end of last season saw an incredibly inept lacklustre display by Diouf. Afobe is better than him as it stands, and he, is dreadful.

Presumably (and clubs will know this), if he and Bauer, Imbula, Wimmer and Ngoy are still here in 3 weeks, we'll basically have to loan them out, even if it means paying 95% of their wages?

Still it’s a bit rude and unnecessary if he hasn’t left yet. Also I’d wager if Diouf had done a full preseason and got fit he would have been more use than Afobe as its at least a bit of pace. Problem last season was he was completely out of shape and looked like he was running through treacle so didn’t even have that anymore.

So we are paying him and the rest of the bomb squad to sit at home. Given yesterdays starting strike partnership (and Gayle seemingly no-go) beggars and choosers comes to mind.

With Jones’ belief that McLean can be a left back, maybe he can turn Diouf into a flying right back because he sure as hell isn't a striker. His first touch is almost as bad as Allen’s but I do recall a couple of ok performances in that right side of defence...the Chelsea game springs to mind.

We've got a full house on the right but would he be any worse than McClean? Hang on I'll think about that a while

define 'bad touch' ----- one of the centre forwards that started yesterday ( not Vokes)
simply blooming awful
unbelievably bad
could not trap a bag of cement throughout
but made Mame Diouf look like Lionel Messi
AND even an aging decrepit and sometimes mind befuddled codger called Nigel Johnson noticed and clearly commented upon this.

Diouf, despite all the games he's played, still hasn't come to terms with the offside rule and also couldn't hit a cow's arse with a banjo but despite that, he'd have put in a damn sight more effort than the two wasters who started yesterday.

He was much better than Afobe and cost a lot less. That’s not hard though 😂 For a free transfer Diouf has been a very good signing for the club. He's never a striker in a million years but in a 433 he's your right sided forward.

Does Nath just not fancy him as a player or has there been some falling out ? He remains our top scorer in a Premier League season and was a willing worker in a Hughes back 5 . Are people like Gregory who we signed better forwards than hi. then? I rather doubt it. I am a better striker then Donkey Diouf How many goals have you scored in the premier league?

Maybe we are keeping Diouf in case we sell Butland, then he can go in goal?

Wouldn’t it be nice to have a striker you felt confident was going t score decent opportunities. I can’t remember the last time I felt like that. For the last 3 seasons at least I have a sick feeling in my stomach as somebody goes through on goal and a feeling of disbelief if we do score (invariably we don’t). What are we doing to these players- they lose 50% of their ability on just pulling on the red and white shirt!

The only one I'd feel halfway confident of scoring in a one on one would be Campbell, though I think Vokes is probably the man to fill Diouf's boots for scoring the odd instinctive 'no need to think' goal.
