Can’t see him getting any game time, even in the Cup. I struggle to think anyone would be willing to pay anywhere near the salary he’s on at Stoke, so looks like he could be a very expensive U23 player.

Is Diouf still at Stoke? To me never a forward, but he did ok when playing as a wing back.

Does Nath just not fancy him as a player or has there been some falling out ?
He remains our top scorer in a Premier League season and was a willing worker in a Hughes back 5 .
Are people like Gregory who we signed better forwards than him then? I rather doubt it.

We could certainly have signed a better striker than Diouf though with the resources we had at our disposal. We're now lumbered with Diouf on a large salary. And I reckon Gregory will be a much better option at this level.

"A good idea is a good idea FOREVER" The sad truth is Dioufy's been atrocious the last few times he's had an opportunity and we can't rely on him.

People just not giving players a chance before a ball is kicked does my fucking head in
Still they’ll cover their arses with their “hope he proves me wrong “ rhetoric

Freddie Steele remains our all time league leading goal scorer, surely there's a place for him too?
I was quite open to Diouf being in the side for sometime until his cameos late last year, he was never the best finisher but what he did have was good stamina and a bit of pace. Both of which seemed to have completely deserted him within 5 minutes of coming on last season. Don't even start me on his RWB days, because he should have simply not been played there.
Gregory is a far better option.

I'd be very surprised if Lee Gregory isn't a miles better footballer than Mame Diouf.

Do you really need a thread slagging someone off who has never given anything but their all for us? Really. He's moving on. It's clearly time but jeez give it a rest.

Definitely didn't get the credit he should have done for us when he played, he was a excellent forward for us and also was prepared to help the team out to play full back, which should never have happened.
Largely his movement, jumping, pace, strength and stamina were top notch resulting in him getting many more opportunities than other forwards. He was clearly impacted by family deaths as you'd expect and this probably changed his mindset, ultimately football is less important than family life. Unfortunately, with that and his technical side of the game being limited for a top level footballer and with his physical side looking reduced from more recent performances it's better to have him released than take up the space of someone who is up and coming.

Scored 11 in one season, which actually was 12 as he was the last to touch what was given as Bojan's goal against Spurs, but as he was in an offside position he wasn't given it I presume. Worked hard and chased everything, I really feel he hasn't been given the credit he deserves here.

Agree but I do think in his last few appearances he's been a shadow of his former self, looked like he couldn't be arsed.

I agree he has looked a shadow of his old self, but I suspect it has got to do with pace which was Diouf's biggest asset. Still I can't undestand people saying he was never a striker on this board!

Had the best goalscoring season in the Premier League for us and then was treated appallingly from there.

Most were flukes including the one against Man City, never a footballer in a million years. nothing flukey about running from your own half and calmly slotting home. for me mama is a good player but he is too inconsistent he needed 3 good chances to score 1 and that is simply not good enough for this level.
