Agree 100%. And, of the two, Buttler easily bests Bairstow. There is room for both in the team and even as a Lancashire supporter you are being very unfair on Johnny Bairstow who is by far the better batsman of the two and is now close to surpassing the number of test runs Robin Smith scored ans whose overall record and average is on a par with the likes of Lamb, Gatting, Butcher. Too many loose cannons in the team. We need specialist players, and one player such as Buttler then has the license to attack when necessary. Bairstow needs to go away and work on his technical defect where he keeps getting bowled through the gate or caught LBW on his crease.....

Any hints yet at who's replacing Bayliss ?

Any hints yet at who's replacing Bayliss ? Temporary coach from within, probably Silverwood. If he does well in New Zealand he might keep it?! Other than that, only heard Mickey Arthur's name being mentioned as a serious candidate and he has said he'd like the job, which is quite rare when most coaches are happy to stay within the 20/20 circuit these days. I don't think they'll give it Ottis Gibson, another name in contention apparently.

294 all out. A 5 wicket haul for Mitch Marsh. Mitch-fucking-Marsh....... The sad thing is we don’t have to look back very far to see a bowler with even less credentials having a field day against England. January this year to be precise. The beneficiary of England’s supine batting. A certain Roston Chase, the non spinning spinner who took 8-60.

Warner continuing to play like an English batsman! The pitch looks an absolute belter this morning and doesn't look like there will be much swing.

Well that is the end of the rabbits.
Now we just have to try and get rid of the two proper batsmen.

We can never get these 2 out cheaply. We bowl too straight to both of them it's so infuriating. Woakes' first over and every ball on middle or leg to Labuschange which is his strength, brain dead.....

We can never get these 2 out cheaply. We won’t if we bowl badly at them A case in point. Woakes has just come on for his first bowl and 5 of his deliveries were off line. Now I like Woakes and think he is, or should be, a stick on for the test team at #8. But that is fucking shite.

So Smith to get 400,what will the rest get? Do the England bowlers have a word with Smith and ask him where he would like the ball bowled?

Let’s see if the Aussies manage to give their wickets away on a flat pitch, like we did.

Telling how no one is really talking about Jofra Archer in just his 4th test. He looks like he's played 40.

Telling how no one is really talking about Jofra Archer in just his 4th test. He looks like he's played 40. Telling, what do you mean by that? Telling in the sense it just demonstrates how good he is, so often in people's first 10-15 tests you hear commentators constantly refer to it as reasons as to why they may be struggling or trying too hard. He just looks right at home and like he's been part of the team for years.

Curran's been very good today with the ball, moved it in the air well which we've really struggled to do all series.

Curran's been very good today with the ball, moved it in the air well which we've really struggled to do all series. He’s been better than the disappointing Woakes and the (unusually in this series) anaemic Broad. But I’m afraid that’s somewhat damning with faint praise. He’s going at near enough 4 an over. He may be moving the ball around a little but that’s all it is, a little, which at his modest pace ain’t likely to do much. Only Archer has looked the part today as a bowler. Meanwhile Smith moves remorselessly on. Edit: Curran just got his second wicket. And doing much better than my miserly comment above indicates. Well done young man. Still not in Archers league, but performing way better than Woakes. Meanwhile Smith moves remorselessly on. Edit #2: make that three and on a hat-trick.

Another great spell, only finding a bit but doing enough to tangle them up. Hindsight is 20/20 but would he have offered more than a clearly fatigued Woakes this summer?
