Surely having the youngsters play alongside/ against some seasoned pros is beneficial to their development? It helps to bridge the gap and gives some vital experience doesn't it?

Surely behind doors friendlies are exactly that - behind doors so nobody watches which means nobody can scout the likes of Duffy and Hogan. They happen all the time and you’d invite scouts along. But I don’t think they’d be arsed like they wouldn’t be arsed with them playing tonight.

They usually make the side worse because they’re not used to playing in that side. Haugaard in the cup for instance against Vale last season. With the u23 goalie in, we lose 1/2 nil.

www.stokesentinel.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/stoke-norwich-premier-league-cup-3776644This talented and hard-working Stoke side, managed by Rich Walker, were left kicking themselves when they were knocked out of the FA Youth Cup via a penalty shoot-out in a third round shock at Bradford.
But that night was in contrast to some fine results and performances this season, including 3-1 wins over Manchester United and Wolves, beating West Ham 4-1 and Everton 5-1. They dominated against Liverpool last time out a fortnight ago only to lose 2-1.
Stoke would back themselves against any team in the country. Michael O’Neill has already had midfielder Adam Porter training with the seniors and, in a whirlwind first three months in charge, has been keeping an eye on the group’s progress.

Norwich are supposed to have very strong under age teams as well.
Unbelievable that this lot lost to Bradford, arguably the weakest academy in professional football.
