There’s no way clubs agree to that must play contract nonsense but either way you just know that judgment has been passed on here when he plays after he’s had a poor game

I’m still adamant he’s not coming, but after reading things like above needing guaranteed matches etc, we’d be stupid to sign him on that basis. He’s clearly talented but he’s not played anywhere near this level, the championship is a huge step up for him - the last thing we need is a player who has so many starts written into the deal and him not being ready to make that step up. I think if he does sign and there is a clause about starts, he will achieve it anyway unless we sign another striker. With all the best will in the world there is no way Fletcher, and Campbell once fit, will end up playing every game which leaves just Brown as competition. He may be a bit of a gamble, but Man City aren’t in the habit of keeping 18 year olds with no future at their club despite the embarrassment of riches they have. I think he could do well for us and as we could be desperate with squad depth, a necessary acquisition.

I don’t think Pete has much of a clue what’s going on with this one. I don’t think an injury that will keep him out for a few weeks would scupper a season long loan. Yeah - but could well delay it with City wanting to be sure he's 100% before letting him out? With his Dad at the club, you can be sure City would feel more confident in his long-term being guarded better than if he went elsewhere. Rory definitely won't allow him be rushed into games if he's not fully fit. And you can't be sure another loan club would have Liam's interests at heart as much as Stoke would. Maybe I'm being overly optimistic on this one, but I think his pre-season injury bumps up the likelihood of it being Stoke who get him rather than another club.

Would be a game changer in our season. If they want guaranteed games, give it him, he’s miles better than what we have

The Daily Express reckon that Brighton have tracked him for some time and have been in touch with Man City over a permanent or loan move! South coast sunshine or Stoke on Trent, what a dilemma for him.

I'm not sure if ANY club is going to commit to a "must play if fit" clause for a untested teenager. BUT, he clearly would get more game time at a Championship club than at a Premier League club. AND, the fact that his dad is at Stoke and would be sure to kick up a fuss if he wasn't treated well (in his interest and ours) would suggest that, from Man City's point of view, Stoke would appear to be the best bet. I am reasonably optimistic about this.

Was Liam a Stoke fan during his Father's playing time with us? He'd be seven or eight, when most kids get into football supporting, around 2010 or 2011. We'd have been a pretty attractive proposition then. The cup run, the European campaign, then the first three years under Hughes when he'd be ten to thirteen - so quite likely he'd be drawn in, I'd guess.

That way both clubs get what they want i.e. a player who is developing by getting regular 1st team action (Parent Club) and the ability to return if not up to standard (Loan Club).

Was Liam a Stoke fan during his Father's playing time with us? He was definitely a stoke fan when we won 1-0 at goodison courtesy of a Huth header. I sat next to the Delap family and young Liam was in stoke gear celebrating the goal as if it was his dad scoring.

The Indian cricket guy from yesterday is saying it's all sorted? Did a bit more searching on this guy
So it looks like he used to write for City Xtra on freelance, an independant fan page that posts news, pics, game reports etc... (think they were posted a couple pages ago?)
LinkedIn page also states he does football in addition to cricket reporting, he's also done City press conferences
So maybe he has someone at Man City who he knows possibly?

The Indian cricket guy from yesterday is saying it's all sorted? If true, wonder what the bonus clause is? Do we get him for another year on loan as a Premier League striker, or do they get first refusal on some our better players 😂😂.
