It would be ironic to see Bards and Erik line up on opposite flanks in the same EPL team. Ironic, and relegation bound......

No but as back up he's probably a lot cheaper than Pieters. Definitely, my thought would be that if it's just as a backup or rotation can't we use Clucas and save the wages. I don't think Clucas is a first team player anymore with our recent signings so I don't having him as a backup left back would be a problem. Assuming though, if you think like me we're not going to achieve anything this season. If you think we're going to push promotion then Ward could be deemed as a functional signing. I don't rate Clucas, but Jones does, and it's far more likely that he will stay in the team than the scrapheads brought in this summer, with the exception of Powell, they are surely just back ups to the fantastic Jones team we saw last season...

It would be ironic to see Bards and Erik line up on opposite flanks in the same EPL team. Dyche clearly sees Stoke defenders as the solution to their problems. I reckon he will try to sign Shawcross in the next window, if Jones doesn't play him in the first team. Then I think Dyche will resurrect Ryan's career.

Announcement imminent. Spinksy says we were seeking a 7-figure fee, so presume it'll be around £1m? BBC are reporting the story & are describing it as a 'bargain' move to Turf Moor for a fee of £3mil..

Does Jones really think Stephen Ward is a better bet than Erik Pieters?

Does Jones really think Stephen Ward is a better bet than Erik Pieters? As a less expensive back up full back in a diamond formation yes I'm sure he does....

Does Jones really think Stephen Ward is a better bet than Erik Pieters? Yes he sees Ward as the youthful athletic dynamic left wing back his system craves. I see him as an ageing premier league player looking for his final wage. I really thought we had ditched the strategy of buying old not good enough for the premier league players.

He’s worth 2 million quid of anyone’s money. Amiens won't be paying that Maybe there's English interest that we aren't aware of? Thought someone like Huddersfield would have had him twelve months ago, Burnley maybe however seems he doesn't float any boats over here. £3m in the end Bayern you were right (well actually underestimated it)

I see see Pieters on £20k to £30k week out with Ward £10k to £15k a week as good business Next step: sign a quality left back (with Ward as back up)

I'm just hoping £3m isn't the whole package, i.e his wages over three years with us getting nowt. Hopefully not.

I'd still be surprised if we get £3m.
I'm expecting an undisclosed, but if not I think it'll probably be nearer to £1m - but it'll be a nice surprise if it is 3.

Ekker is a really nice guy, been a fantastic servant to the club for peanuts, works hard and I wish him well
That said, I have never in all my days seen a worse crosser of a football - ever.
Dont know how many of them in his time here ended up either going for a throw as overhit, out for a goal kick, or straight to the keeper.
When he did put a good one in, they were staggeringly good, but nobody ever read one as it was unexpected!
So long Erik, good luck!

He made some controversial choices, so of course what we saw was the Jones team every time!
