Badou is nowt to do with Hughes is he? Signed after he left, but we don't know if he was sourced by him. He certainly has the smell of a Hughes signing, maybe he suggested him? Definitely the last roll of the premier dice player, and the gamble didn't pay off.

And why as a board would you trust the manager's judgement when you've just sacked him?

Bowen made it clear they chose him at Man U.

I blame Mark Hughes for so much that has gone wrong at our club. I also blame the board for santioning these mental deals. However you simply cannot blame the players as well. They're meant to be professionals and are paid a fucking good wage. Badou taking photos of his passport and sticking them on Insta, not being arsed to turn up on tume. Etebo has less moments but he's still taken the piss. Berahino and all the drink driving convictions and being a lazy fat waste of space. Wimmer applauding the Spurs fans after we shipped 5. The players are as disgraceful as those who put their faith in them. I too lay blame with Hughes, serial offender to bad transfer at a load of clubs (an agents wet dream in physical form) - of course the board sanctioned a lot and they don’t come off clean either. But...I think also - before Hughes we attracted a lot of fair-weather supporters who jumped on board after a few seasons of seeing that local team on Saturday eve telly but were shocked that we didn’t play silky sexy football such as the Citehs, Utds and Chelskis. That ushered the end of Pulis and Hughes seen as someone who can bring in foreign players to answer fans’ calls (he did exactly the same at Qpr and crippled them, they still recovering). So I think as fans we also need to carry some of the weight to our downfall. I’m all for wanting more from my team - but if out of the realms of reality then it can go booby up as we now know. The more this goes on the more Hughes grabs my ire. He did more wrong than right at our club. We can't blame fans, I've never spoke or even wrote to Hughes, I certainly wouldn't have said to him go and sign any overseas wanker for any price. I would also easily forgo the 3x 9 place finishes so long as our club had never heard of him. He came in to an excellent Pulis side that found new freedom under his different tactics. However as a good team took a good few years to build, it also takes a few years to disassemble. Eventually his useless transfer market nous caught up with him and we're still taking about his terrible signings nearly 2 years after he left the club.

I mean that's just fucking stupid.

Look back and see who the manager was and you have your answer. We didn't have a manager in place when these players were signed ! Fair enough, but Bauer was lined up when Huges was here.

Hughes did a lot of damage after he gave us three years of great football, but there is a certain twat who nobody’s mentioned, Rowett. He is equally to blame.

I worry about some of the rewriting of history going on The squad was in a real mess when Hughes arrived at the club. There was a lot of players at the club who clearly weren't good enough at that stage that needed sorting with little budget to replace them. Palacios, Shea, Edu, Ness, Whitehead, Delap, Upson, Tonge, Shotton, Arismendi, Jerome etc etc I'm not pro-Hughes or anti-Hughes but the fact is for a club like Stoke to achieve 3 x 9 finishes is a remarkable achievement that will never be repeated imho. and Yes he then lost the plot. We experienced a Very Good Hughes and Very Bad Hughes but I don't think there is any need to paint it all with the same brush.

And that "excellent Pulis side" was lucky not to be relegated that previous season. Precisely. It's what makes the boards reluctance with Hughes so more galling. It was the exact right time to sack TP and I wanted Hughes gone before most but for me there was no excuse not to sack him after the Arsenal home game that we lost in the season before relegation. It was the moment. I like Hughes though, he signed some duffers for sure but the last year he shouldn't have been here and that is on the board for me.

Who was responsible for his signing (transfer/signing on/agents fees)? Plus the signing of Bauer and Stafylidis (remember him) just asking for a friend Look back and see who the manager was and you have your answer. Did we have a manager at the time of the three signings?

Appears like this 'professional' has no ambition, by signing for a no-mark "Turkey" of a club. Instead, happy to move from watering hole to watering hole and, effectively, destroying his potential and reputation (long-term loan player).
What some so-called "professional" footballers will do, just to cling on to a dream [for him] contract, and continue getting grubby hands on filthy lucre.
One benefit: we have one less r-sole to talk about for 12 months.
Absolutely love the Club's expansive and glowing tribute to this latest foreign import.
