Not really any more fire power than our current owners You can't realistically compare the two. I mean, you can, but I did say realistically. How much fire power do you want , a director of 365 was pAid more than Man City’s entire summer spend last year ,for one years salary , more than the £200m that some are saying would put Newcastle in the top 6 it’s 1 choice 2 Incompetence and atrocious managerial recruitment on the cheap , ( we find ourselves in the championship ) 3 FFP that means can’t spend £200m this summer , not the wealth of the owner , a sheikh richer or poorer isn’t our issue

Good luck to them. If the new man comes in and spends big money then they're a top 7 club again.
They have the crowd and they have the manager.
With Benitez they will win trophies for sure.

These rich Arabs are ruining the game. Taking all the transfer fees up to an even more obscene level. Greed and ego will ruin our game and one day a big club will implode. It was great being in the PL league but the Championship is a far better more competitive exciting league. With proper fans and far more British players. Rich Arabs are ruining the game but rich online betting company owners are probably OK. Don't you just love how some fans think that clubs with more money than theirs are ruining the game but couldn't give a shit about their own club being a 100 times richer than, say, Port Vale.

People comparing Coates' wealth to that of a Sheikh In all seriousness, one has to wonder where all this ends. Newcastle's possible ascension will be limited by FFP which was brought in following the last pair of clubs to follow this model in PSG and Manchester City. It's brought them a lot of domestic success but they still struggle to rub shoulders with Europe's elite in the competition they are most interested in. It's all exercises in soft power by UAE and Persian Gulf states. The only difference between us and France is there is a market for multiple clubs to compete on a level way above and beyond that of the rest of the league, PSG on the other hand may as well play their B-team for a more competitive experience. There's no guarantee it would bring the success Newcastle wanted anyway. Chelsea were rapidly successful but are starting to fizzle out alarmingly now and Man City pursued some shocking options before they finally got their act together.

The Championship is a hell hole of shite teams playing shite football. It was great being in the PL and we should be doing our utmost to get back there. Plenty of shit teams playing shit football in the Prem to be fair, I enjoyed the Prem and it would be nice to get back there but I do understand why people are preferring the Champ or at least enjoying it. Until the Premier League takes a bold step and opens up a mid-table playoff system for the last Europa League spot it will continue to become more and more stale for that cluster of clubs safe from relegation but without a hope in hell of breaking the top 6. For all their success, Wolves were still 11 points behind a desperately shite Man United side. Scrap one of the Europa spots for a League Cup win (it's been 6 years since a non-top 6 club won it) and open up a one leg Europa playoff mini tournament for clubs from 7th-12th with 7th and 8th already being in the semi finals for it, the winner clinches the final spot. Lo and behold the mid-table is interesting again rather than just fizzling out when you lose in the FA Cup.

Not a fan of the League Cup at all, has been dragging it's heels for 20 odd years now for me. ( Before someone says we won it etc etc , a game 50 years ago doesn't make it relevant today). The only way I think it could get some kind of genuine interest back is to re-format it totally as crowds are close to embarrassing at best unless at the latter stages, even then the semis don't sell out. Maybe the top 4 not entering it could work and like in Spain, lower league clubs are guaranteed a home draw v a higher division side in early rounds. A one leg neutral final as well. Anything is better than carrying on as is

Although I completely agree with you, there is a difference between rich Arabs and online betting companies (EG Bet365) who are from the area of the club they own.

Benji's point is that for some reason he seems to think that Bet365s money is actully OUR (SCFC's) money that should be spent on the club and players.
He doesn't seem to be at all aware that the club and Bet365 are 2 entirely separate companies.

Similarly, when Maradona stunneed everyone by joining Napoli, Napoli suddenly became a more attractive proposition and they got players like Careca.

To be fair to Maradona, he convinced Napoli that training started in the afternoon so he could sleep in. No wonder he signed for them Allen Simonson to Charlton, Pele to the Cosmos....if the cash is there so is the interest.

And if Newcastle are rejuvenated there aren't many places more exhilarating to play.

No matter who you are, if you pay players they will go or consider it. To be fair many did jump ship at Boro as soon as they could
