The UN have now finished their report www.theguardian.com/politics/2019/may/22/un-report-compares-tory-welfare-reforms-to-creation-of-workhousesA leading United Nations poverty expert has compared Conservative welfare policies to the creation of 19th-century workhouses and warned that unless austerity is ended, the UK’s poorest people face lives that are “solitary, poor, nasty, brutish, and short”
"He accused the Government of the “systematic immiseration of a significant part of the British population”.
"The “endlessly repeated” mantra about rising employment overlooks that “close to 40% of children are predicted to be living in poverty two years from now, 16% of people over 65 live in relative poverty and millions of those who are in work are dependent upon various forms of charity to cope”
“It might seem to some observers that the department of work and pensions has been tasked with designing a digital and sanitised version of the 19th-century workhouse, made infamous by Charles Dickens.”
The report slams the government’s austerity programme, with criticisms of “shocking” rises in the use of food banks and rough sleeping, falling life expectancy for some, the “decimation” of legal aid, the denial of benefits to the severely disabled, falling teachers’ salaries in real terms and the impoverishment of single mothers and people with mental illness.
Alston said austerity had “deliberately gutted” local authorities, shrinking library, youth, police and park services to the extent that it was not surprising there were “unheard-of levels of loneliness and isolation”.Good fucking God, when everyone has eventually finished their Brexit wank, this country needs a Socialist Government to right the wrongs of this evil and wicked bunch of Tory tosspots.

No comment on the actual substance of the article then where the UN identifies major suffering and poverty in the fifth richest economy in the world, poverty caused by direct Political choice of austerity.
This Government has blood on its hands.

If you don't want austerity don't vote in the Labour governments that fuck the economy that leads to austerity. There's no poverty in the UK - just stupidity. The UN talks bollocks... UN...

Austerity was George Osborne's idea to reduce government debt, which actually increased while he was chancellor. No, it was to reduce the deficit which he and later Chancellors have done. The last Labour government managed to increase both the debt and deficit (pre-crash) despite enjoying the fruits of a booming economy. The debt was increased massively to support the banks after the 2008 crash. Without this they wouldn't have been able to lend to businesses and the like which would have fucked our economy. All this is lost on the average Labour voter.

So still no comment then about the pain and suffering caused by this wicked and pernicious Government.? No surprise.
Talking of money in the pot, it's interesting to note that whilst all this is going on, the average disposable income of the richest fifth of households, increased by 7.5%. Interesting that theres plenty of money floating about somewhere isn't it.

Talking of money in the pot, it's interesting to note that whilst all this is going on, the average disposable income of the richest fifth of households, increased by 7.5%. Interesting that theres plenty of money floating about somewhere isn't it. The government and our welfare services know that the benefits and earnings cover costs for families and the like - whether they're working or not. Benefits are based on many years of checks, tests and real world costs. Some people however are incapable of managing their lives and spending whilst others, on the same income, manage without difficulty. Now, what idiots like you pick up on is the people that haven't the fucking sense to manage their spending. We can't give these people more money because the people who aren't fuckwitts would ask why they aren't getting more too. Any attempt to manage people's spending is seen as interfering by the comical left. Another example is the blarting about nurses having to use food banks. Only a complete fucking moron would believe that a nurse's income is so bad that they have to use food banks. It isn't. The nurses, and many other people using food banks, couldn't run a bath and to be honest should be sacked. What sort of nurse is so stupid that they have to use a food bank? Now, there are people who fall on hard times because they've made piss poor decisions in life but we shouldn't bail these people out because it'd be seen as a green light for everyone to fuck about and expect the state to sort them out. There are also people who are generally fucking unlucky and these are the people that we need to help. Unfortunately these people are lost in the sea of hopeless wankers that have ruined our welfare services for decades. Give it a fucking rest. It's as tiresome now as it's been for decades with the likes of Labour voting arses.

The person on a grand a week gets 20. It's always going to open up a gap and over time the gap gets bigger.

Even with a booming economy Labour decided to piss tax payers money up the wall.

Labour kids think that the granddad that saves their money is a wanker.

They look 'good' for a while but many fail to realise that they create problems that other governments have to sort out. They're the party for scroungers, public sector workers who want more for doing less and students who've never grown up.

When every fucker stops wanting to come here because the quality of life is better in their own country, then I will start to believe what the UN and the poverty and oppressed experts put out. Maybe while I’m waiting they could go to places like Venezuela, North Korea, India, Pakistan and several of the Eastern European and other African states and preach to them first?
