I saw Roxy Music at the Viccy Hall I think it must have been around the end of 1972 not long after Virginia Plain had been number one. I much preferred their earlier music. They also played at Trentham Gardens I think just after Brian Eno had left I think in 1974. They did indeed and if my memory has not failed me Led Zeppelin were on at Trentham a couple of days before Roxy Music. Still my favourite band of all time and I am looking forward to seeing them in Manchester.

I think they had 3 number 1 albums

I always get confused on which is Bryan Ferry and which is Roxy Music. It's terrible.

I always get confused on which is Bryan Ferry and which is Roxy Music. It's terrible. A world of difference. Roxy Music (particularly 1972-75 period): songs mainly written by Ferry and delivered on record in an edgy and innovative style played by a great band that still sounds fresh and original to this day. Bryan Ferry solo: mainly cover versions of great songs made to sound pretty bland. Just my opinion!

Never seen them sadly but did see Bryan at Live Aid when he had Dave Gilmour play with him. Was going to say I met John Gustafson who played bass with them for a chunk of the 70s ( he came up with the Love is the Drug baseline) but having seen it's a resurrected thread I apparently said this in 2019 - joys of skimming,.I read it and thought "oh so did I" before clocking it was my bloody post lol

Does anyone know where I could get two tickets for the current concert tour....not at the current ridiculous prices of ticketmaster and viagogo.....I realise that I have left it too late to get the original prices, unless someone knows better!

There are some of the lowest price tickets still available at face value on Ticketmaster, See Tickets etc at Ā£47 each. Those are the ones I got when they first went on sale. I know they are near the back and/or up in the heavens but I really didnāt want to pay Ā£100+ for those nearer the stage.

Nosebleed seats as Chester says but hopefully you can get one in that price bracket Sadly out of my league as spent on other stuff , such is life

Just an aside and a bit off topic sorry, but relating to the fierce ticket costs we're now getting, I saw an interesting review of Roger Waters current US shows and how the arenas entire upper tier was empty , and two points on this. (A) the ticket cost has clearly hit his sales and peoples ability to afford and (B) in a feat of intelligent thought by the venue, they then bumped all the people from the worst seats into the other areas.
I was going to The Who in Liverpool just as pandemic hit and had bought the cheapest and , like Ferry, there were a lot of tickets still on sale prior to cancellation..I love live music but am sadly having to pick and choose on what I go to or avoid. Final point, i don't love sites like Groupon but they do sell some big tours cheap nearer to showtime if gluts of tickets remain so worth a look

Odd reminiscence, but song that got me into Roxy was Same Old Scene, and still my favourite song by them, saw a film called Times Square when I was about 15 and that was the main song in credits and it got stuck firmly in my head and lead me to reappraise them . Avalon has left me cold but some amazing songs bar that I was in a band called The Sleaze Sisters....took our name from Times Square , the film

Unfortunately we once played in a bikers pub and lots of sweaty men turned up expecting a different show all together due to the poster . I think was out Stone way . I drew the poster and failed to put that was a band. A scene in OFAH reminded me of it years later when they advertised a seance
