Letdown - Barbados, Varedaro (Cuba) Surprise - Oman, The rest of Cuba I loved Barbados although I agree its got its over commercialised and touristy bits, especially Bridgetown which could have been anywhere really. We stayed in St Lawrence Gap in the south which was good fun with being able to walk into "The Gap" for drinks and food each night. Oistins for the Friday Fish Market/Fry night was good fun. Varedaro though I completely agree with - its a bland hotel resort. Pinar Del Rio, Havana and Trinidad were great though. My cousins been to the south island and its more rural down there - I didn't have the chance to stay at a casa particular though, perhaps one for the to do list. For a truer Barbados you need to go to the Est or South East coasts or go to little Scotland

Turkey - shit hole Lindos in Rhodes - heaven Thailand - paradise, but different islands can change dramatically over the course of a couple of years. ie koh samet used to be paradise, now it’s like blackpool. Research required beforehand. I thought the same about Turkey, admittedly only went for a day trip to Marmaris from Rhodes Town, which I liked. Loved Lindos too. And Lardos.

Lagos in portugal is also amazing I regret not going there. I went to Albufeira, can't remember why, but always wish I had gone West.

Iceland - a stunning country. Would highly recommend the Vatnajökull National Park if you want to see some stunning glacial features, geysers and volcanic features. Blue lagoon resort is very good too but is a bit touristy. Also venice mainland, folk think venice is just the island, but the mainland bit was genuinely better in my opinion, with superb food at a fraction of the cost, and a proper idyllic approach to life. You can get to the island on the train for a quid if you want the tourist carnage though. Worst place for me is benidorm. Lives up to the tag of england abroad. Re: Benidorm.... Realistically, what did you expect? Ha ha, you have just reminded me of a bloke I worked with who went to Lanzarote, and said it was like the moon! Didn't you have a brochure! 😁

let down - Miami Beach, what a dog hole full of drug dealers and twisters, stupid prices and just in general one of the most unsafe places i have ever been surprised - Benirdorm, expected much worse, yes the boozy brit thing is happening but its clean and warm and in general pleasant This, benidorm old town we found to be really nice, some lovely restaurants too. The new town is what it is, stay away from the strip and its fine. There's some great beach bars on the front as well, which don't generally attract the dickheads. Benidorm is big enough to make what you want of it.

Letdown - Protaras, Cyprus. Every hotel with beach front access had pool music absolutely blasting out trying to be the loudest, right next to each other - you really couldn't hear yourself think. The town itself was a real letdown as well. My credit card was cloned and I had over £6,000 of flights and holidays charged to it by the time I got the bill - money thankfully repaid by the credit card company. It was cloned at the hotel or airport duty free.
Surprise - Zermatt, Switzerland - top end, exclusive resort, how the other half live, I really didn't think I'd like it, but it was really nice and seemed "normal" (apart from the shop prices !), plus it had absolutely incredible views of the Matterhorn. (I was there on a day trip last Monday whilst on holiday at Lake Maggiore).

When I went to Turkey my mrs was blonde. I’ve made her grow a ginger afro since. It’s true what they say in my experience, the turkish blokes wouldn’t leave her alone. We live and learn. Lindos, pefkos, lardos in rhodes are all quality. Greek food is up there with thai and mexican for me. The Greeks are awesome aswell. Apart from Phil.

Before we had the kids, MrsBath & me went Cuba a few times(Hence the avatar!) Been all over it from Havana to Baracoa. Listening to the melting pot of music there, you can hear Rock&Roll being born... Let down: Germany. I can see why our Anglo-Saxon ancestors left 🇩🇪

Sevilla is excellent, did you go into the palace gardens We went for 7 days and it was 7 days of pure joy and culture. Hired a car and hardly used it apart from a trip to Cadiz (weirdly appealing place) and Alhambra (awful and tacky). Went to a few of the gardens and palaces in Sevilla but loads more to do - next time later this year we'll just hire pedal bikes to get around. The churches are wonderful (the only let down being the main central cathedral which although enormous is pretty bland inside). The area around the main cathedral is wonderful though. Perfect combination of warm friendly people, fantastic food and drink and breathtaking architecture and gardens. Went to Cadiz a great place in the old town, it was the palace gardens in Seville I was on about, where they filmed some of Game of Thrones www.google.com/search?q=alcazar+palace+gardens+seville+spain&client=firefox-b-d&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwijoMGPvZ_iAhVfTBUIHSjBBWgQ_AUIDygC&biw=1600&bih=774

Has anyone been to Tivat in Macedonia , if so what’s it like , Not much to do in Tivat itself and ypur nearest interesting place is Kotor. The ferry runs in Tivat connecting the road instead of going a very long way around. Pretty area but try Kotor or Budva.

Thassos, Skiathos and Paxos stunning people, scenery, beaches and food.

Agree with a lot of these, Toledo, Seville, Kyoto. On a related note, does anyone know about Tenerife. I’ve booked a week there because I thought the kids wanted to go to a water park and they have the big one there. Turns out they’re not that bothered so I’m not sure what we’re going to do for 7 nights there in high summer. Any suggestions for something off the beaten track?

Copenhagen wasn't as good as we expected and was eye wateringly expensive. It wasn't bad at all, but the visit to Roskilde was the highlight of it. Would go back, but it didn't live up to expectations. Brussels was mental. A bit like what I expect the last days of Rome to have been like!
Prague was fantastic though. Also had a run out to Lidice. I'd got the old blue stoke shirt on and we were made very welcome by a lady in the museum who holds S-O-T and it's people in very high regard. We didn't encounter any of the rowdy stag parties that people warned us about, the beer was great and there was loads to do. Would definitely go back there.
