What an absolute disaster for al concerned, the player, Bristol and fucking us who are now stuck with him and paying for his rehabilitation and probably loaning him out again at best when he's fit. think the insurance may take care of that Yes I thought clubs took out insurance to cover...or at least contribute.... wages for injuries like this. You have to feel for the player, seemingly getting his act together and now this. Rather like Ryan in the summer

Whatever you think of him, this is up there with the worst thing that can happen to you as a footballer. Get well soon Benik.

We would probably have been looking to sell Afobe at the end of the season and that's pretty much out of the window now.

We will have been hoping that Bristol would take up the option to buy, which is now completely out of the question.
However it's up there as one of those injuries you completely dread being a footballer, so it's a shame for him to be ruled out potentially till the end of the season. In that case all we can do is get him rehabilitated, get him fit again and more than likely loan him out as I don't see him being introduced to the team again.

Looking on the bright side for a minute. That's probably Bristol City out of the promotion picture now, so one less rival for us to worry about.

Wow that's awful news! I have laughed off the notion that the club is cursed..... but maybe Coates should be looking for an exorcist rather than anew manager I was thinking the same thing and I'm not particularly religious. Does anyone know if an exorcism has ever been performed in a football related matter?

I believe Don Revie once brought a gypsy to Elland Road in 1971 to lift a curse. Unreal! He was an overtly superstitious man though, had a lucky suit, a fear of birds and ornaments. Which was completely at odds with the fact that in many respects he was a far more progressive manager than his contemporaries including Clough. His thorough scouting of opposition and collating it into dossiers predated it being commonplace in English football by about 15-20 years.

We just couldnโt play to his strengths. Like a number of our players, he lost his confidence and for some reason a number of our fans then gave him a hard time Hereโs hoping he makes a full recovery

I donโt mind Benik as a player. I donโt think we played to his strengths and he lost confidence- like many in our squad.
Wishing you a speedy recovery. It really is one thing after another with anything to do with our club at the minute.๐

Itโs always us isnโt it?, just when things sort of look good for one of our players and the club the hammer comes crashing down
Bojan being another prime example

Bit before my time was Don, always seems to be painted as bad cop though. Having said that, the majority of my knowledge on him is admittedly from the damned united.

It is bad news for us Robins, Afobe was brought in because he was exactly the spearhead we wanted for the manner in which we play football. He and Palmer had struck up a quick understanding, the timing or runs and passes was exceptional. Diedhiou does not have that ability and is a completely different type of centre forward and as you will have witnessed last Saturday we were very disjointed and lacked any cohesive threat through the middle. It's a big blow all round. However, there was enough promise to suggest we may well still take matters further when appropriate.
