SLIGHTLY different?! And we’re not going to sign two clubs’ first choice keepers and have them compete, pretty much no club does that. He went to challenge a number 1 spot at Chelsea. Not actually all that different apart from the level of the clubs The level of the clubs is precisely why it's so different. There's a far bigger chasm between Chelsea and Stoke than between Stoke and Barnsley.

Time will tell Chelsea are one of the biggest clubs in Europe if not the world and at the time Begovic joined them were reigning Premier League champions. The chance to be managed by Mourinho back when his stock was high and play in the same team as players like Hazard and Willian is a bit of a step up from sharing a dressing room with Sam Clucas.

Why would he leave Barnsley to come here Why wouldn't he? Double his money. Bigger club Playing in front of double the crowds. Far better chance of promotion Agree with the first three but promotion with that shower of Shit we have

Although I am feeling at my most optimistic because it's 3 months until I have to see them play again...

Haugaard is 27, had a disastrous loan spell at this level with Wigan, and has been playing for our U23s for two seasons. Who is going to spend money on him? Even if he wasn't, you know, out of contract this summer? Most keepers haven't even found their best form at 27...Haugaard could still achieve so much in his career... Great fishing today! You've caught a few today!

I'd prefer that David Raya guy from Blackburn if I had the choice.

I'd prefer that David Raya guy from Blackburn if I had the choice. Im not trying to be a dickhead, i see his name mentioned a fair bit - is that because of how he played against us? Because I’m really not a fan judging a player on a one off performance. Ive seen Davies play and am really hopeful thats the lad that we get. Bags of ability and potential to match.

Afternoon boys and girls.
You could do much worse than Davies. He’s not perfect but he’s a very good keeper overall.
The montage in the video you’ve got in this thread is from over two years ago, put together when he signed a two year contract extension.
He has two and a half season’s more experience now, and has gone through a rough patch, with a crisis of confidence, and come back all the better.
He has contributed as much to our success this season as anybody, more clean sheets and less goals conceded than anyone in the football league and he was voted into the overall EFL 11, not just the League One team.
He’s a better keeper now than the video montage suggests, his distribution has improved (though he’s no Ederson or Pickford), and being club captain has made him more vocal.
You have competition for him, Birmingham, Huddersfield and Wolves are all looking at him too.
I doubt we will even make him an offer unless he asks for one as we won’t get near the wages - I’ve heard 25-30k mentioned, I doubt we could go much north of 10k. He’s not even on that now.

I spoke too a couple of Barnsley fans at work about Adam Davies. Both had the same opinion about him. He had a great season for them 2018-2029.. But the season before he was a bit hit and miss.. This could be due to him growing older and learning his trade. Personally i think Adam Davies will be a great addition to Stoke's squad. Jack wants a move back to the Premiership, and no one can blame him. Adam Davies will see us as a step up the ladder. Bigger club, better crowds, better training facilities, great media exposure to improve his career propects and better wages. Plus we can expect a good price for Jack who has a history of injury problems. Get Adam Davies in now and along with the squad clear out and some fresh faces i can see next season being a good one. It is all about Nathan Jones putting his stamp on the squad and improving this squad's performances based on the previous four seasons disastrous under achievements.

Daviies or Walton more preferable for me

More inclined to stay on his line if in doubt, though probably as we’ve had two centre halves who win most things in the air all last season. He’s not given any real cause to be jittery in that regard - though that said there don’t seem to be many keepers who are happy to come out and take everything in the air, taking everything in their way out with them anymore. He certainly doesn’t.

My wife's family are all Blackburn fans and they are quite bemused that we are linked with Raya, distinctly average in their opinion.
