He may be a twat, but he might be our twat soon! Those are the players I love and we've really missed for the last 3 - 4 years

I’m going to a bit against the grain.... what I’m going do is judge the lad if/when he signs!! If he signs he comes with a clean slate and at only 25 some of his best years ahead of him. Some on about his attitude and the potential of causing unrest in the dressing room seem to forget a certain Mr Odemwingie. He was crucified before he kicked a ball for us.... he turned out a bit alright. Radical... 😮 More like mental! He's a shit/great signing! At 25, who knows, he may just have grown up and realise he has 8 - 10 years to actually make something of a promising early career. When he moved from Crewe, at 18, we'd have been delighted if he had signed for us!

I knew he was a strong player, but didn't realise quite how good in the air he appears to be, which is a bit unusual for a skilful, creative type.

Wonder if that's the strikers and No.10s finished with now? (assuming Afobe and Ince are going to actually stay and be used) No.10s: Powell, Ince (+Verlinden) Strikers: Vokes, Gregory, Afobe, Campbell? You could be right FM. Sadly it doesn't look enough goals to reach the playoffs bearing in mind the lack of contribution from midfield last season. Allen 6 Second highest scorer and could well be gone Clucas 3 McClean 3 Etebo 2 We need 70+ goals...huge onus on Vokes Gregory and whoever plays no!0 Ince/Powell. 5 out of the top 6 teams have a striker scoring 18 or more. Who is going to get that many?

He's got everything in his locker to be a success here I'm sure. He's got a touch of the Charlie Adams' about him in that he can change a game on his own. I think he'll comfortably be in double figures for both goals and assists next season.

Fergie seemed really confident he'd become a big star. From what I can gather he got all billy big bollocks, couldn’t be arsed to train and thought he was God’s gift just because he was at United. As I’ve said before, if you can’t motivate yourself to play for Fergie just who can you play for? That’s my issue. We’ve had disgusting attitudes plaguing this club for years now, Powell will only add to that.

It's a bit of a worry when you log onto Twitter, Wigan websites and suchlike and all you see is equivalents of:
"Good player but always injured"
It's not often I take heed of other supporters and their opinions but for them to universally speak of how much quality he has (subjective) yet state how injury prone he is (more black and white with less arguments) kind of speaks a bit louder than the norm.
Hopefully, Jones has a solid pre season routine that will put a bit of a different type of fitness and conditioning into him that makes him less susceptible to injuries, if he signs...

Although he isn't going to score many more than Ince and we need more goals I think he is a major upgrade...fingers crossed he joins. A signing that just might put a rocket up Ince's arse!

Suspect it may not be us if he has a new home? Nicko says think England but doesn’t specify league. Maybe Norwich taking a chance? Might just fancy a new home and a move to Stoke, but my hopes just dimmed a little reading that. I’d doubt he’s talking about the property market More a change in employer Following your comment, I re-read it, and laughed at my original thinking...

It was the wrong move for him imo. If Jones makes him the linchpin he'll revel in it and will get the best out of him, if he is a bit part player then he'll struggle to get motivated.

An enigma, a maverick, an unfulfilled talent.
Take your pick from these generalisations of Nick Powell, or perhaps all three apply, but either way everyone is agreed that the 25 year-old is bursting with talent and remains a potential game changer providing you keep him switched on.

Funny how all fans convince themselves that players have a special affinity for their shirt, then realise too late that they don't!

Splash the cash on Che Adams? Get Monk pissed and agree to Afobe+ cash? Be nice.

Well hopefully will finish above 16th for MY Stoke City Jones. Verlinden won't get a sniff sadly. Given Powell's injury record Verlinden should get plenty of games

Hope it’s nowhere near Stoke-On-Trent. Overrated, injury prone hormonal shithouse. Rate him then

I’ll admit here that I don’t know that much about his ability. Rarely seen him play and missed the Wigan game. What I’m hearing is strong, bullies defenders, eye for goal, bit of a character. Like a more gifted version of Walters maybe?? Wrong comparison. I am in favour of Powell coming here though. I think he could do well but more importantly fits both types of 10s in a diamond. The upper midfield creator and the shadow striker. Just don't criticise him for his lack of defensive awareness.

Wigan’s just a graveyard full stop.
What a truly post-apocalyptic shithole, populated by the same sort of overgrown, shuffling rednecks that populate Crewe, who communicate solely by grunting and tearing the heads off pigeons, and manhood is reached by being able to finally put more than three fingers up your sisters quim.
When even that population think Powell is a cunt, who think an IQ is the name of the next iPhone, that should be all you need to steer well clear.
Instead we’re steering like Dodi Al Fayed in a Parisian tunnel.
