Surely it's best he plays a few games there rather than no games here. Very odd.

I still can't understand why Sørensen has been given so few chances for the first team as I though he played really well against Swansea in our last PL game.

He needed a loan this time last year though and sooner. He’s 20 and hasn’t played proper football hardly. It’s piss poor from the club.

Sounds like he may be a contender for the bench for the rest of the season

He's way more suited to the deeper role if TOB's performance on Saturday is anything to go by.
Two really good prospects though.

Gets a namecheck from MON. Wonder where he is in the pecking order now. www.stokesentinel.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/stoke-joe-allen-recovery-oneill-4241594Allen's absence opens the door for a cluster of players to catch O'Neill's eye for tomorrow's re-start at Reading.
“We have options," he continued. "We have a little bit of an injury doubt over Jordan Cousins, we will see how he is.
“But we have the option to look at Nick Powell playing in a more central area.
"We have Lasse Sorensen who has impressed greatly in terms of his data and how he has used the time and the lockdown. So, he is an option.
“We have Tashan Oakley-Boothe as well, so we do have options to come in there. We have a little bit of youth and enthusiasm and fitness which I think will be a factor.
“And we also have the quality of the likes of a Nick Powell as well. So we will be able to fill that gap.
“Joe is not an easy player to replace, but what we have to do is a combined effort of the team to make sure we don’t feel that loss too much.”

I really thought he was the future after that game, but he has hardly played in a first team game since then! I've got a feeling he would be a gem and a Glen Whelan type of player for us given more game time. He looked quicker than Whelo though and even looked better one against one. I would really like to see him get more game time from now on!

Interesting comments, and well done to the lad if he's taken the time out to develop himself and push himself into the managers thoughts.

The STATSport vests that players wear with the GPS trackers showed Sorensen top of the list in front of Arsenal's Kieran Tierney, it was in a Sentinel article for a few weeks back if I recall?

I think if we hold on to this clutch of young players til the end of next season we could really have something to pride ourselves on. Having a proper good academy might be the best idea we've had for a while if these players actually are as good as we think they are, not just for their resale value but just to have something to look forward to as they come through

Remember watching the U21's v West Ham, and Lasse was probably the best player on the pitch, he was commanding with a real eye for a pass, many at range, and was all over everything in midfield. A very exciting prospect.

For once I am genuinely hopeful we have a great crop of future first team player's. Providing we dont sell the family silver for next to nowt and give them a chance we might start to reap some rewards from our academy. Would be great to have a steady conveyer belt of energetic youthful talent at our disposal for a change, instead of fishing in the 'past his sell by date' pond.

For once I am genuinely hopeful we have a great crop of future first team player's. Same here. Despite many of our players being closer to the end of their career, we look to have a good young crop - with Oakley-Boothe added to that and not forgetting Powell is still only 26. We could have a very good mix of youth and experience next season.

I'm genuinely really excited by some of the younger players.
I love Verlinden, think he's mint, Campbell is a natural goal scorer when he plays, Collins is solid, I haven't seen Sorenson and Oakley-Boothe play in person yet, but by all accounts they're excellent.
We might not have the Bojan's and Shaqiri's right now, but this does feel like the start of something positive.

We could put out an U21 side that would do well in League One imo.
Bursik
Edwards Collins Souttar Tymon
Dunwoody Sorensen
Verlinden Oakley-Boothe Ngoy
Campbell
It's a very decent side.

Being so young and inexperienced as a whole, I think they'd struggle. Throw in a bit of experience like Shawcross (despite Collins and Souttar looking like two of the best prospects), Powell, McClean and a couple of others, and it looks like a side that could do pretty well in League One, if it comes to that. Five or six of those under-21s have a good shot at double-figure appearances in the Championship next season - I may be disappointed if they're not regulars in and around the first team.

Should we hope for relegation then? Come on he isn't seriously genuinely saying that's the side we should play. However Bayern is right to show we have plenty of decent young players of varying quality - outstanding like Collins, Campbell and Verlinden. Souttar and Sorrensson should be used next season for sure. That doesn't mean we have to play 11 kids however we should all understand that we can be confident in these players Edit: the other thing it does is allow the manager to concentrate on quality in the transfer market, we don't need to pad the squad out.

And where does it say that I take him at face value? As for allowing the manager to concentrate on quality in the transfer market...that's a really good theory. Pity that none of our recent managers subscribed to that idea and went ahead and bought the trash we're saddled with, some on five year contracts. If Collins can't even get into the team, because we have older guys in his position, Souttar has zero chance of getting into the first team. Similar for Sorensen. He's been the next big thing for the last three years, and yet over those three seasons he's played exactly 2 games, none of them 90 mins. Next season they'll be saying he's too old to be a youngster.

Given the high frequency of games I'd expect to see Sorrensson play in next few weeks, probably going to be in the bench today
