In 50 years of following Stoke , I’ve witnessed many highs and lows , but personally today was amongst the hardest and emotional I’ve witnessed Today for me wasn’t about the result , rather the chance to say my goodbyes to a football and Stoke City legend... and a personal hero Heartfelt thanks for the memories , hopes and strength provided.. without even knowing it I was a wreck leading up to the minutes silence..apologies for those nearby If anybody has genuine contacts at the club who can help me with an invite to the funeral service I’d be forever in your debt RIP Great post Scouse and I felt exactly the same😢But what a fantastic tribute👏

I can't be there today but will be having my own little tribute by wearing a plain green jersey during the match. Gordon is largely remembered by neutrals for his magnificent saves. That Pele save, maybe the Hurst penalty save (which I think Gordon always said was his best). And no doubt that he could pull off the spectacular. But they were rare. More often than not it was a regular catch, a few bounces out to the edge of the area, throw to one of our midfielders and off we go on a counter attack. Why the rare spectacular saves? Why the regular catch and releases? Because 9 times out of 10 his positioning was perfect so he could make that easy catch. Shilton's home debut, he leapt seemingly miles to.tip a screamer over the bar. I turned to dad and said "wow, what a save". Dad's response: "it was rubbish. He's given away a corner. Banks wouldn't have had to dive, he'd have caught it and we'd be attacking now." Shilton was maybe the first of the modern, flashy keepers. Gordon was maybe the last of the old solid keepers. And he was the best ever at that. The player, the man - number 1, the greatest. We'll remember you forever, Gordon. Well said and well done to the Villa contingent today for a respectful commemoration of the great man.

Nice tribute from the club and it brought a tear to my eye. Particularly liked the choice of background music, " Nobody does it better" and some fitting film footage. Didn't quite get the Tile Mountain stand placard display but altogether the club and all those present did the great man and his family proud. RIP Gordon, you'll never be forgotten.

Must admit I found it very emotional. Well done to the club. Tile stand cards were very effective, White number 1 on a green jersey. Banksie song was a throwback, film was superb. Great commemoration.

It was absolutely top drawer. As a grown man nearly 59, I aren't afraid to admit that the tears ran down my face during the tribute. Stoke City have just lost a major part of their history, a great man who came to love not just our club but our city and our people, and our people loved him too. I don't think we will ever see the likes of Gordon again, in this day and age of money takes all, for those of us lucky enough to see him play, treasure it forever.

Tributes have just been paid to him at Prime Minister's questions by both Corbyn and May. Lucky David Cameron wasn't there or he would have told us how he took so much pride that Banks played for his team West Ham Aston Villa! Diane Abbott had a lovely tribute. Said he was OK for a whitey and got 752 caps for England. On a serious note, nice to see so much respect for such a great keeper. We hear the usual cliches.. best save ever etc ...bottom line is he was arguably the best of his time and a very nice and respected man who football will desperately miss.

Yesterday was a wonderful example of the club getting everything just right.
The video was wonderful, the use of the advertising hoardings, the cards in the stand, the appropriate floral tributes, the perfect minutes silence (with proper announcements about what was going to happen), Jack's throwback kit, his old team mates and family on the pitch and the sharing of memories with the other wrinklies around me.
I was glad to see his League Cup final injury time save at the feet of Chris Garland from Mike Bernard's back pass which made sure we won included as it tends to get overlooked. Even now when I see it I still hold my breath, as I did at Wembley, until Banksie gets his block in.
I was also very relieved that the fine sunny weather gave me a good excuse to wear sunglasses as these helped to hide the occular irrigation system malfunction that kept happening.

I'm so glad they did him proud. Great days they were. The type of man I like. No edge, not a big head, lovely fellow. He did us proud. Banks of England. We will never, ever forget you. God bless!!!!!!!!

Very moving and heartfelt. I unashamedly cried for the tribute and I took a while to compose myself at kickoff. Music was apt aswas the video. It was just a little bit difficult to see the mosaic properly from where I was sat but seeing it on the late news made me blue again! Pity the match derailed in the second half but it was a day to remember Mr Banks, England and Stoke’s finest number 1.

Being 62 I saw Banks play many times. I feel privileged to have done so. He was such a special human being. So unassuming, humble and gracious. For me Banks was a keeper who made his art look simple. In articles I have read it is very clear that his positioning was all important. This helped Banks immensely in making many saves look quite ordinary. Keepers today would be diving about pushing the ball away.
The tribute on Saturday was very fitting and top marks go to the club. The supporters of both clubs showed their appreciation of a super star.
Thanks for the memories Gordon. You will forever be remembered.
I will say goodbye next Monday X

That was an amazing day. My daughter sat on the bench next to him. He was an absolute gentleman and a total legend. I'm so honoured to have met him, and proud that he was a true Stokie. RIP. Cheers so much for arranging that great day again Chris, as great as it was at the time who'd have thought them memories would of been so poignant 8 years on! What a team talk he gave! Can't remember who to credit for Gordon attending that day, was it Cilla perhaps?! It was Ryan Summerville. Think he knows Banksys daughter somehow!
