This 'it's the fans fault' bullshit has got to stop. It's really not helpful or relevant. It's the biggest load of nonsense of all of it. All this "he's inherited xyz" "It's not his team" - "its a shit show behind the scenes." The fans being accountable for the performance on the pitch is one of the single most stupid things I've witnessed on here and that includes grown men buying into the whole snippets of cryptic shite from Dave. The players owe good football to the fans and most of them don't give a fuck - see Berahnio, Clucas. (Erik is one of the few that had a bit of an idea of what the whole process means to the fans) But if they can't deliver that for whatever reason, they at least owe giving 100%. And if they don't deliver that, who the fuck is anyone to say the conduct of the fans is somehow part of/or contributing to poor performances. It's total rot. When players don't perform and don't give 100% they should be fucking skinned for it. We can't have it both ways though can we? We have, for many years, revelled in the 12th man tag (well perhaps not the last few years). Where by implication our volume and contribution from the stand has helped the performance on the pitch. Several managers and players have attested to this. If that is the case then why can't the opposite be true. Players are human. If they can be affected positively by the crowd then they can be affected negatively. I'm clearly not saying this is a major factor but it could be a contributing factor to our obvious lack of confidence. The players, in the main, are just crap but this constant criticism from elements of our support and the negativity and booing of every little mistake during games must get to them and can't possibly help, can it?

Indeed Sheikhy. The one time in the match that any player looked like he gave a shit (Allen aggressively but fairly challenging for the ball in the second half, right on the touch line in front of the Sentinel stand) saw the noise level increase a 100 fold but it soon died down again when normal service was resumed on the pitch. Why don’t you start watching UFC? Just because players aren’t flying into tackles like headless chickens doesn’t mean they aren’t trying, unless you have some hidden agenda of course. The only time we made any noise was to boo our own, embarrassing yet again. I think you're the one with agenda as it goes ...

There's not even any real anger, most folks are just punch drunk I think. I suppose that's what having your arse served up on a plate each week does to you. It isn't helping that results are actually getting worse from manager to manager. Those are interesting comments. Arriving in the pub last after the game there was no anger, no frustration, no apathy, just an acknowledgement that none of the eight season ticket holders (3 of which didn’t bother going) are enjoying going to the match and haven’t done so for a considerable period of time. I suppose a consensus of opinion was “Can’t be arsed” Its worth mentioning that all the guys have been season ticket holders for many years

This is the hardest I have found it in 40 years to put my coat on and come out to watch the game. Apathy is exactly what we have running through the club from top to bottom and it shows in the stands.
Nathan has a massive job on his hand, I think he's the right man for the job but this is a three year project to turn this round and there has to be some high profile casualties.

This 'it's the fans fault' bullshit has got to stop. It's really not helpful or relevant. To be fair to the OP, he never said it was the fan's fault, he just said rate them.

Fans react to what's happening on the pitch.
They're bored and frustrated - have been for ages.

It's a pretty decent point. I'll concede there has to be some conistency in argument. But it was a reflection of appreciation of the work ethic that pumped the crowd the way it did in 06-09 Now they wouldnt know how to respond, because barre joe etebo mclean and edwards theyre all questionable. There's nothing to feed off and I'd argue by your logic, it's almost inevitable the same fans are going to respond by getting frustrated, knowing what it is to be encouraged AND encourage hard work and grit. Loads of spelling errors in there but i'm fucking rat-shattered

I dont applaud any more when we score - perhaps I've just forgotten how to. I spend most of the game with my arms folded and miserable face.

Why should we lift these fuckers? They’ve had ample opportunities and still keep churning out the same gutless, cowardly shite week on week. Then we get the same recycled shit in the press every week about “We’ll look to correct this” only for the exact same thing to happen. There’s nothing to support at the moment, nothing. Because at the end of the day it's our club? I think we all want to get behind them, but the 3 years of turgid crap has drained the life out of the vast majority of the fan base. Singing breeds singing, but very few have the heart for it at the moment.
