Nobody really hates Rowett. Chanting "your football is shit" is personal yes but it'd still be personal if the chant was "your football is rubbish". The frustration from the fans is borne out of two things.
1. The "I don't know what all the fuss is about" comment from Coates a little over a year ago. The fans are worried that he might be of the same mindset this time around and have decided they're not going to chance it and have turned their frustrations vocal.
2. Rowett calling out the fans.
With each game he remains at the club, it will get worse and worse and worse.

You simply cannot underestimate how much he has brought it on himself though. To have such thinly veiled pops at supporters from such a position of weakness is pretty dim-witted. I'd like to think he'd learn from it in his next job but he's such a deluded arrogant fuck, I somehow doubt it. This. It takes a lot for me to really take against someone but Gary's combo of pigheadedness, favouritism and self-serving interviews show me a limited and rather unpleasant man. And one whose powers as a football manager are limited by those personal shortcomings. Apart from being here for slightly longer, as a human being he reminds me of Quitterall.

You get my drift, you obviously think it’s acceptable then Oh well I suspect he's questioning whether saying "fink" is a speech impediment. I did the same on a deleted thread a while back. But hey, you keep fighting the imaginary fight...

You use the words "Venom and Hatred" in the title, and use "venom and vitriol" in the first line of your post. Dictionary definitions include: Venom- "extreme bitterness" Vitriol- "bitter criticism" Both the above would seem justifiable to many of those who love Stoke City and have supported it for many years, in some cases at great personal expense, in the light of all the things you then go on the enumerate in the remainder of you lengthy post. I have been highly critical since September on this MB, but do not hate Rowett, and have never engaged in swearing or foul language. The Board made a an error when they chose to appoint him, a decision I welcomed like many other fair-minded fans, but rapidly came to realize was a serious error as Rowett is clearly not up to the task. It is hardly surprising that those who have paid to endure his style of football, traveled long distances in some cases, and then listen to his criticism of his own employees and the fans have lost their patience and posted in the manner you describe. Their feelings are to sympathised not criticised. I was of the view that the priority in being relegated was to avoid going through the trap door to the 3rd tier. None the less whilst an immediate return to the Premier league would have been highly improbable, it was not impossible. Rowett has been give every support possible by the club including support coaches, players re-signed, new players he wanted and plenty of time. He has not only failed in his business objective, but managed to alienate everyone in the process with his pronouncements. It is hardly surprising people have lost their cool and engaged in the way they have. There it is then all justified, its possibly because I did not renew my season ticket that would then enable me to join in with the current toxic cloud of poison around the club Or Was it because I am not a delusional gimp that thought SCFC were going to walk this league and my expectations have or are becoming fact as the season moves forward I suggest you look at the bigger picture it's not all Rowett there are other factors at play here and what ever manager moves in will have all the same issues to deal with No, not all justified. venom and vitriol as I defined are, but not hate and abuse. I don't think Rowett is totally to blame for the club malaise but he is "in the shop window" and supposedly responsible and accountable for what happens on the pitch. I have posted before there have been times this season when the team played quite well. I call to mind the fight-backs against Blackburn and Rotherham, the determination to beat Derby, the opening periods of play against Sheff Wed and even Wigan, before the debacle set in. Those performances tell me the team has capability, particularly in the first 2 examples where they are released from the shackles of Rowett's tactics and need to score urgently. Once again yesterday a third rate side, minus their star player Ogogo and struck by an early serious injury, which apparently had some of their players in tears, they still made Stoke appear like a bunch of amateurs (no insult intended to amateurs). I think Rowett is 100% responsible for the performances and if some of our supporters go OTT in their criticism I find it perfectly understandable even if I don't join them.

The finger pointing towards him is well justified believe me, I’ve said many times before on the numerous threads relating towards him that his tactical knowledge giving his time spent in this league is a disgrace especially given the funds/players available to him.
I mean WTF is he thinking by sitting back against anyone in this league especially at home, it’s dull and amateurish to day the least.
So in conclusion he deserves everything that’s coming his way “but” believe me there’s bigger problems at the club that dwarfs Rowett.

You would think that Rowettt has been adored wherever he’s been wouldn’t you. The first time I heard “Garry Rowettt your football is shit” was from Birmingham fans as they beat us 1-0, followed by Derby fans as we beat them, then sung by Stoke fans following 24 games of pretty useless football. Stoke were an own goal and a penalty away from staying up, and were not as bad as West Brom last year ( a team who have spent less and score goals for fun) yet some of our fans think we were the hopeless case? If you look at the ref for the Rangers/Celtic game, that is clearly where the line has been crossed; as far as I know Rowett has not had ( and obviously should not have) any threats made to his well being. He has had 27 games in which to make even a small positive impact and the fact is that we are worse now than when he took over. He is either stupid or arrogant and there is no excuse for either trait- he has publicly belittled various members of his team, picks without fail players who are clearly not good enough or don’t fit his system (Afobe, McLean, Martina) and then calls out the fans who have to watch the garbage he is presiding over, safe in the knowledge that his abject failure will generate a pay off of £2m. Nobody thought that Stoke were certainties for promotion but with the squad and money spent on supposedly improving the team, languishing in 14th is also not to be expected. Who said “boo me, I can take it?” If he was feeling that the abuse has reached a level that he can’t handle he would have resigned but obviously his pay off means more to him than the vitriolic abuse, so why should I have any sympathy for him? He can walk away or something even more novel, set out to win a game by playing something that vaguely resembles attacking football.

Isn't what's happening the opposite of the Bear Pit. I'd argue you can't have one without the other. I'd tolerate Rowett being a condescending, arrogant, aloof twat if he gave me a galvanised, hard working team that connects with the Britannia/Bet365 or whatever it's going to be called next. Pulis, especially in the first 2 seasons of the Prem gave us exactly that. And although some of his soundbites were laughably cringe worthy he was very good at that element of football team management. Hughes not so good and it appeared he wanted to let his teams do the talking. Which at certain times they did.
I personally was never impressed with Rowetts appointment and felt that SCFC needed a larger than life character to galvanise both the team and the supporters. He isn't. He doesn't and sadly the performances, league position and supporter behaviour reflect that.
In the words of Momo's best mate. He Shit Guy.

Some of the abuse of Rowett is well over the top, Hughes copped it as well, and to a lesser extent lambert did also.
Basically there are people in our society who think its acceptable to call someone a cunt just they don't like the way he does his job and because they know he can't answer back.
It's a problem that goes way beyond football - there is a general lack of respect from some.
I'm sure Rowett would love the opportunity to call them out. But he'll have to content himself with knowing that they will never amount to anything.

He could be the most arrogant twat ever drawn to a career in football management and I wouldn't care IF he hadn't called out the fans and essentially belittled us all, en-masse. How can the manager of any club be so blatantly disrespectful of the fans and not think the chants and name calling is not going to get increasingly bad. And for Coates and Co. to sit by and watch it happen is beyond ridiculous. It tops Coates' infamous quote about not seeing the problem to new heights.
Unless something significant changes at Stoke City soon, we're fucked.

He really has, literally, asked for it. I've never seen anybody completely miss judge and miss handle a situation as Gary has over the last 6 weeks. I don't think he's as thick skinned as he thought he was. I don't think his shoulders are as broad as he thought they were. I don't think he can take it as well as he thought he could. The only plus side is that at least the fans were listening to him, he can take some heart from the fact that we listened to him and did what he asked.

I actually don't think Rowett has done as bad a job as most, but regardless, I find him a thoroughly unlikable character. Lambert may have been shit but you could tell he cared and he was a nice fella which does help a little.
Rowett comes across arrogant and a bit of a twatbag. He 100% sees us as just another job, and I don't find there's any connection to us and he's not built a relationship with the fans. You knew it hurt Tony when he was sacked. I fully believe there was emotional investment from Hughes as well. Rowett doesn't seem to have that connection to the club or the fans and that counts for a lot when these chants appear. He's made some real rookie mistakes as well. Get the fans on your side, especially Stoke fans and you will receive support even when you fuck up. Rowett never got us on side, right from when he snubbed us in Hamburg.

I never wanted him in the first place, and I make no bones about not being able to stand the bloke......most of it being brought on by the guy himself!!!
I don't see a problem myself, with venting the frutration at him, with songs like "YOUR FOOTBALL IS SHIT" cuz it fuckin well is shit!!!
20(odd) games played this season, and only ONE game where we can actually say we gave a good account of ourselves!!!
I've missed two home games this season through work (luckily they were the games against Wigan & Blackburn), and usually I get pissed off when I have to miss a game, but this year, it hasn't bothered me in the slightest!!!
HOWEVER, all that said.....I don't agree to the shit thrown his way when it gets personal, as Werrington said in an earlier post.....some idiots were calling him a "Paedo", wtf??? Stupid idiotic remarks like that can only come from morons!!!

I agreed. I see it as a symptom of the quick win, money buys success demand of the super rich and their football club status symbols. The money in the game is disgusting and people with ridiculous amounts demand instant gratification. Like many other clubs and fans it is the domino effect, we expect success, patience is in short supply.

It may be over the top. However i believe it is a reaction to Coates` (Denise ? Johnny ? Peter ?) seemingly gin slinging doddery old FXXTs approach to the running of the club ie seemingly no accouantability for the Teflons and the fiasco over Charisma`s dismissal when a dismissal at a similar time to Sotons this year i believe would have seen us safe. When the Coates` came out with their lessons learned garbage i trusted them We can trust them no longer and we need to let them know how we feel. Rowett is in the front line but he gets well paid for it. If he was personable and friendly and had earned my respect i would feel sorry for him. He hasnt and i dont

Is it just me who thinks that the venom and vitriol being directed at the current manager is totally unbalanced for the results and performances so far this season, The results are probably a minor (tho by no means insignificant) factor in the "venom and vitriol" as you put it. The problem is that Rowett never took to Stoke supporters and the feeling is mutual. It started with snide remarks already in pre-season and at no point did it get better, but it got positively worse with outright attacks on Stoke supporters in late December. You simply cannot do that and think everything is just fine. Rowett's a grown man, he should be aware of it, but he has just carried on the whole time. The performances on the other hand is probably a bigger factor. Considering the abysmal football we've been given under some previous managers, it takes some doing and then some to alienate us so much. But in his manner Rowett has succeeded in doing just that.

There is no reason at all why we should be in a miserable 14th place rather than challenging. We dropped out of the Prem by only 3 points and invested £40 million net in the summer and only lost Shaq of any consequence. It's been a woeful effort to date. We were probably very lucky to leave the PL "by only 3 points"! We were simply no good, but were almost saved by other teams as bad orworse than us. The worst mistake we have made in the past 9 months is thinking that the players who took us down were somehow good enough to get us promoted. They're not, with 3-4 exceptions. The others have just lost the appetite and are just doing their job, nothing more. We have then done ourselves no favours at all by bringing in an inadequate, immature manager and then giving him the freedom to buy second rate players for vast sums.

It was just a remark Coates made, to maybe ease the burden of pressure for his then manager. Since then everybody and his dog have quoted him on it, taking him unnecessarily seriously, and I'm sure he has regretted making it a thousand times. It has as a result meant that he is now almost no longer available for press comments - he hasn't even given Rowett a dreaded vote of confidence. This also means that we have no statements to guage whether or not the board is prepared to give Rowett an undeserved second chance, yesterday's game suggests that they are, although Rowett's own body language suggests he's already in another place. I agree that his anti-social behaviour towards the fans makes his position untenable.

I personally find it makes the entire match day experience really awkward. I really don't want to go to the Leeds game if it's going to emulate the Bristol and Shrewsbury game. I aren't defending the man, as many have said he's brought it on himself, that being said anyone who has been calling him a paedophile can stay as far away from the club as possible as far as I'm concerned. But it's still mega awkward and the human being in me feels sorry for the bloke when he's got 20k+ people giving him mass amounts of abuse for the duration of the match. I wish this would all just be over now, it's dragged on far to long, I don't want the talking point of a match to be what was said at who or how much it escalated.

People were (rightly) incredulous at such a remark, the moment it was made. It belittled the opinion of the fans and he was ultimately proven (very quickly) to have been wrong. I'm sure you're right and he does indeed regret making it. I think Rowett not getting a vote of confidence has nothing to do with the original remark however. I'm pretty certain the reason he isn't getting a vote of confidence from the Chairman now, is because the Chairman doesn't actually want to give him one.

I will never or do i want to understand this type of behaviour, what they don't realise is that they are embarrassing themselves and everyone associated with the club.
