IMHO Moyes would be a good choice as Director of Football, being “directly” responsible to the family.
If they wish to retain the services of Cartwright make him report directly to the Director of Football.

Everton league positions 15th 17th 14th 13th 16th 15th --Moyes takes over-- 7th 17th 4th 11th 6th 5th 5th 8th 7th 7th 6th 5th. not forgetting the great job he did with Preston in the Champ previously In the interests of balance Man United lowest league position for 10 years , Sunderland relegated , sociedad sacked after a few months . Now he remains a great choice but he is not the very very best Out there both would come for the right deal as it’s a location that suits and an environment where money is available , but one will suffer no compromise one will try an work within the framework ,however I suspect it’s all over if we’ve spoken to Moyes allardyce won’t come end of , so its down to the negotiating team to close it out

In the 6 years since leaving Everton the only modicum off success he's had was at West Ham.....and only on the back of getting Arnie firing as a centre forward really. He's a has been You could argue that his subsequent failures have been in a.) an impossible job, b.) a club where he lived in a hotel and couldn't communicate with any of his players and c.) a runaway train basket case. I know there are holes in that defence (Allardyce did well at Sunderland for example), but there is a bit of mitigation - and also his decent spell at West Ham and his hunger to re-prove himself.

What difference does it make? Moyes looks like the unanimous choice of everyone in the boardroom. If Peter and Jon wanted Moyes and Scholes wanted Allardyce what would be your opinion then? If my mother was my auntie ..., it’ clearly says Moyes is the choice of board and scholes , if scholes wanted allardyce it wouldn’t say it , I was commenting on the quote . Ive nailed my colours to the mast in my view allardyce is the best we could get , he’d come for the right deal and we won’t get him because he will challenge the status quo , the process would be dead the day he walked in , Moyes not so he’s no body’s fool but he his position simply isn’t as strong , the view in the game in Moyes will be this is his chance to prove he can still do it in the right envirnmenr the view on Sam would be when will he do it So why are you highlighting the fact that Moyes is Scholes' choice as well? Do you seriously think that Peter and Jon aren't going to consider their chief executive's opinion? You're losing your mind over the fact that Moyes spent a couple of years working at the same club as Scholes nearly two decades ago.

Jokanovic would have been my first choice before we went for Lambert last season.
Weighing up the current squad however I'd lean towards Moyes or Allardyce.
I still don't think Allardyce would come, he'll want a kings ransom to drop into the Championship. Moyes I've always felt was destined to manage us at some point, and on reflection I think he could improve us with the right backing on and off the pitch.
IF Rowett is a goner, Moyes on a 4 year deal would be a decent appointment. I think he's be more inclined to integrate a few of the younger players as well.....

Sunderland – Relegated so a poor job but it was just a time bomb waiting to happen on anybody’s watch West Ham – Brought in to keep them up and did so. Job done. Are they significantly better now? Despite Allardyce keeping Sunderland up, I think Moyes has a slightly more impressive record myself. We’d be lucky to have him

Moyes. The board's no.1 choice.
I despair. He’s a perfect fit for the job. Looks like we might well find out.
But given the apparant option and availability of Jokanovic, I really wouldn't have him as top of the list.

Then again, Hughes and Pulis both have a better H2H record over Big Sam.

Was it Moyes who moved Annie to an out and out centre forward at West Ham? I’m not sure, but if so then maybe it shows he can also spot a player and develop them which is something you don’t feel Rowett can do. If he comes in, he could bring the best out of Woods, McLean, Afobe etc and also unlock Bojan again?

Moyes was the target all along and will be the next Stoke manager.
The only thing that will stop this happening now is for a team in the Premier to sack thier manager before he signs on the dotted line.
Everton could well be back in for him if current manager continues to faulted!

Moyes' negativity at Sunderland didn't help. As soon as he joined, he pretty much said "we're getting relegated." Edit: hopefully he's learnt from that. His biggest mistake at Man Utd was possibly letting Mike Phelan leave. I'm surprised that Times article doesn't mention any of Rowett's comments at the weekend. I don't think they were as bad as some think, but if he's sacked, those comments are likely the nail in the coffin.

Expect the Transfer Todge to get a very early airing in January.

I’m not going to share either on here suffice to say both Moyes and allardyce live in the north west .scholes I’ve no idea. However check my post on the 14th Nov last year in the Arnie thread and you will see I suggest Moyes spent a lot of time watching stoke during his last two sabbaticals , and he confirmed that himself in discussing Arnie , he definitely likes Stoke as a club and has some relationships here . Pointless debate now we’ve clearly targeted Moyes and if we get him we all need to fall In behind him as. He is infinitely better than this clown not the very best but a proper manager none the less

Moyes would be the perfect "steady the ship" appointment. Solid, hardworking and disciplined, both the man and his teams. He will not mouth off like Rowett, and is far more humble and reserved. We all know he has a decent CV and is close to the top of the pile of those managers we could realistically attract right now.
I reckon we could all unite behind him, give him chance to turn things round and get us set for a proper promotion challenge next season. This internal strife must stop and if his appointment helps to do that, I am "in."

The more I think about it, the more I think that Moyes would be an excellent appointment. He must be given at least twelve months to make a proper impact.
I'm particularly keen on the way that he completely repulsed the way that Everton functioned off the pitch. We are desperate for that level of expertise, and you would hope that the board would back him. If we play our cards right, we could be a good long term project.
He also has the advantage of being a reasonably big name with lots of experience, which should sort out any malcontents at the club.
Since I was very happy when we appointed Rowett and wanted McCarthy in the summer, that's all probably the kiss of death.

Moyes is 55. Sam is 64.
Moyes is much more likely to stick around and build something.
Sam would just be topping up his pension.

Wouldn’t be my choice of the three. That poll reflects that as well. But still better than Rowett. Anything is better than Hughes. Oops, sorry Lambert doh, no I mean Rowett Sorry I really am losing the plot here... Moyes. Moyes Out Now...anything's better than Moyes.... We need a poll...and a riot... What do we want? Something Else! When do we want it? Now...ideally before it's actually happened! Why do we want it? Because we deserve better. Even if we don't have a clue as to what would actually be better. And we won't like it anyway....

Can't believe people are moaning about Moyes..
Who the fuck are we going to get? Pep, Jurgen, Poch?
Need some reality injecting up your arseholes with some of the comments on here.
David or Samuel would sort this club out.. even quicker if the two clowns at the top of the Org Chart were given the boot..
Fresh sheet of paper please Coates family.. Your Rowett experiment hasn't worked.. shit happens.. Lets move on and grab a bit of experience pronto before someone else does..

I thought he did a really good job at West Ham last season and was unlucky not to be kept on. he also spotted what 20k Stokies had been saying for years and played Arnie as a striker not a winger. Maybe not revolutionary but certainly evolutionary. Wouldn't read too much into him not being kept on either, from what has been said since it appears Pellegrini agreed to take the job this summer, last November when Bilic was sacked, so Moyes was not going to be kept on no matter what he did a great job

Moyes reminds me a little of Lambert just a better version and a definite upgrade.
Always struck me like Lambert as a man of humility and good morals. Quite understated but respected. You don't get many people bad mouthing him. Even the Sunderland fans didn't really blame him for their relegation.
Tactics wise. Anything and I mean anything is an improvement on Rowetts. In the whole time I've supported Stoke the only manager that I've disliked as much was Ritchie Barker.
I think he'll be a good appointment in the Macari mould. If I remember right Macari hadn't been setting the world alight when he joined us neither had Steino and look at what legends they turned out to be. Sometimes you just have to go with instinct and I think he's a really good fit. Hope it happens. Just hope he gets the right backing.

Why Tony Scholes has any input whatsoever in footballing decisions is at the heart of the matter. The only input at all should be to agree a contract and salary. He has no footballing credentials in any capacity.
