I started the match thread against QPR saying it was a must win match, which was derided.
Nevertheless if we want to be promoted this season, I'll say it again that this is a must win match.
The new manager bounce hasn't happened with Lambert yet. It would be dire for us if it starts on Saturday.
Ipswich did lead twice against Bristol City, a team we had a very scratchy victory over, with only 3 shots on target and no clear cut chances. So we shouldn't assume this match is a gimme.
No doubt Lambert will park the bus, so we are going to have to find a way of breaking them down, not something we are good at, as shown against Birmingham.
I was hoping to see last night that Shenton or Sorenson could come into the side to keep Clucas on the left flank. But I'm sorry to say there is no chance of that.
If we do win, I hope people will not get too excited and think we have turned another corner - again!

I disagree. Optimism will be welcomed and encouraged with three points against bottom of the league Ipswich. Anything but will be a colossal failure.

I’d take a scrappy 1-0 win right now. Points more important at the moment. 👍🏼

Take a scrappy 1.0 win also to be honest. Just to win games simple. Paul lambert will have them tough to break down for this one I’m sure.

If we want to get promotion*, we're fast approaching the time when they're all must win games aren't they?
* Willful manipulation of various stats (points still available etc) aside, does anyone genuinely think we can still do it under GR anyway?

Being a terminal optimist, yes actually - we really are trending in most of the right directions but what we desperately need is a Puliseque winning streak to prove to ourselves we can. I'd give anything right now to get back that miracle ability to win 3 games by playing well, then another 3 against all odds because Tone seemed to have scared the universe into making sure SCFC won. It was instilling that extra edge of self-belief (or fear) into the lads but he's never repeated it so well at his other clubs.

If we fail to win on Saturday due to the manager being ridiculously over cautious then I can see the tide turning against him big time.
Just fucking go at em from the off...for the full 90 minutes. They are bottom for a reason

That, and TP aside, how about getting in a manager that did waaaay better than winning just three games in row last year at the business end of the season at Fulham?
And guess what? He's available.
Not saying he would do it here but sadly I just get the feeling that under GR we aren't going on a run like that anytime soon ever.

Not quite. Due to us sqandering the points against QPR and Reading, we have now reached the point where we need to average over 2 points a match. Consequently we must win our homes and do better than draw our aways. That is not impossible, we basically have to replicate Norwich's form for the rest of the season. I agree that is highly unlikely under Rowett's negative style of management.

We'd need a new gaffer or philosophy transplant for this guy.
Neither of which appear to be on the Christmas list.

Automatic promotion? Highly improbable. Play offs? Perfectly acheivable.

Automatic promotion? Highly improbable. Play offs? Perfectly acheivable. Setting up to win games? Highly improbable. Coherent game management? Would be lovely.

After the disappointment of Saturday this needs to be a solid win or the festive spirit may not reach this forum in time for Christmas

In my opinion Reading looked worse against us and Leeds than what I’ve seen from Ipswich, we can surely fuck this up.
