Just an update on the story so far
This will take place on Friday 12th July at Trentham Park golf club. ATM a price is under discussion but it is likely to be around £35pp including a one course meal. Breakfast or bacon butty will be available to purchase prior to playing. The unusual part of the day is that all male competitors over 64 will be offered an ultrasound scan of the abdominal aorta. It is a condition that has no symptoms only sudden death. It is the condition that Terry Conroy was on the edge of death with. All other people will be offered tests for Diabetes.high blood pressure.hart fibulation.also cholesterol levels. In other words as full a MOT as we can arrange. All of this will be carried out by NHS staff. I am hoping for 70 competitors from 10:00am until 12:30. Entry details will follow. All profits will be donated to the cardiac team at the Royal Stoke hospital who will be providing many of the trained staff on the day. C

PS the reason for the change ot sending the money to the cardiac unit is I have only recently had a new heart valve fitted at the Royal Stoke hospital as had a close friend of mine. and we wish to do something for them and all the patients they treat. Just remember it may be you eventually. They have 3 wards (221,222,223,)and the Shine clinic (unfortunately I was in for one month and spent time in all four. I am now on rehabilitation and have 2 months free gym membership followed by 12 weeks for £12 all supervised by a specialist physiotherapist. Please enjoy a day whilst helping them out. If we have the time and space we may be able to accommodate some none golfers in addition (for a small donation).

You seen this felonious you can have a free scan I know I've slowed down a little this year with the knee injury but I'm not that slow yet to be contemplating golf
Besides my body's a temple there's no way I'm going to put a bacon butty in it

My grandad had this scan and was rushed straight for corrective procedure. All thanks to the club and TC in particular. He is mentioned at the start if conroys book. Sadly he passed away in 2016 but thanks to the scan I had another 7 years with him

Sounds great. Although living down in the south would like to join in. Is there a minimum handicap needed as I play off 26?

I’ve put it in my diary. Looking forward to it and hopefully being a member gives me a bit of local knowledge, and I won’t finish last.

had my aortic valve fitted ( Richard Wright --- There's a name I wont forget in a hurry ) on 12 Nov 2016 so am 2 years down the road with it
I was on ward 223 and the quality of the staff on there is something else I was in for the Op on the Saturday and back home the following Thursday - back at my workplace within 9 weeks As Chris Kamara would say Un fucking believable Jeff
They say they are the best in the country --- They have to be I have no doubt I am here today because of their care - I was given a 50/50 chance of croaking within a Year without the Op
When you can suddenly breath again --- well you know because you have had the replacement .... Because I was only 55 I had the mechanical valve and a party piece of mine is getting people to listed to my heart ticking . Spooked a few of the guys who work for me that one
Hope you too are doing well
