It could be interesting to say the least at Forest on Saturday if he’s included 😮 Hopefully he won’t be... too much going on now since the weekend.

Being so well educated himself as opposed to the Stokie cavemen. McClean will know that for a time, the IRA were in cahoots with the Nazis with a plan to invade Northern Ireland.

So as long as you're funding anything, then you can demand respect from everyone but afford none to anyone in return? Cracking! Just because they aren't employees it doesn't mean they're allowed to turn up to a stadium owned by someone else and do/say what they want. To suggest the fans are fine to behave how they want towards others just because they pay to get in is one of the most pathetic, weak and ludicrous arguments i've ever seen on this board in order to justify the embarrassing behaviour of some of our "fans". What McClean has said is embarrassing for the club, but i'd wager a lot on the fact that neutrals seeing our fans hurling dogs abuse at one of our own players is even more embarrassing. McClean's political views are well known in football and mostly no one but the fans of the club he happens to be playing for really give a shit nowadays and it isn't a big news story at all. People on here have been saying all week it's always a big negative news story following him...NEWSFLASH it really isn't because most neutrals would struggle to name the club he even currently plays for! He isn't a big name and therefore 99% of footy fams don't give a flying fuck. A couple of papers mention it, neutrals read it then largely completely forget about it and get on with their day but the fans of his own club turn it into a major deal even though no other fucker gives a shit anymore as it's REALLY old news. It's pricks like the fans behaving like this that publicise it far more and turn it into an embarrassment. That's the irony...the days building up to this match i don't think i'd seen anything about McClean in the media...but now because of some of our OWN fans, it's all over the papers this morning! Well done lads! Bravo! P.S. can we PLEASE finally drop this utter bullshit of fans ticket money paying player's wages? It's not 1980 anymore! The gate receipts won't even make up more than about 2% of the club's annual revenue. It's massively over dramatised bollocks to say fans pay their wages..they don't! P.P.S. before anyone accuses me of taking McClean's side, i think he's gash in general as a player but i am also grown up enough to realise that if the club's own fans stopped making a big issue of it, it wouldn't even be remembered by/cross the minds of anyone else in football every year in the first place. He's allowed his opinion and we're allowed ours. If either side are completely disrespectful and abusive towards the other's opinion then they should be treated with the contempt they deserve, whether they're fans OR players. It had been in at least 3 national newspapers and the BBC website leading up to the game. The club issued a statement. McClean has repeatedly issued statements. He then goes against exactly what he asking for. He's a hypocrite. Have fans over reacted - undoubtedly, but it is an emotive and provocative subject. Both sides are as bad as each other. Completely agree that they're as bad as each other (hence me saying that it wasn't acceptable from players or fans). Just find the irony amusing that if they (the fans in question) hadn't been pricks by hurling abuse at him, then it would have all been forgotten about by now already i.e. they've created exactly the media storm they apparently hate McClean for, when he himself had a couple of paragraphs here or there and nothing more. Just shows the moronic logic they use and proves they didn't really think it through because McClean's right...they're fucking thick as shit cavemen. And yes, it makes the papers in the lead up but it tends to only be a paragraph or 2 somewhere hidden away nowadays rather than a big headline. Why is that? Because pretty much no one really gives a toss nowadays as it's well known and has been for years. It's the fans of his home club at the time that turn it into a big deal, not the footballing world in general.

Some* fans. Still not classy or clever, but there is a distinction some are only too happy to overlook... A stupid thing to say in a world that is very black and white. It was also poor management from Rowett to put him on. Only gave him 10 mins to impact a game and threw him to the lions. Created an even bigger wedge between the player and the support and invited him to face even more abuse when he plays at away grounds. The support shouldn't pick the team but the manager needs to be pragmatic at times. He should also fine the player. Calling some supporters 'cunts' is unacceptable and puts the club in a bad light. It is unacceptable I agree. It's also true. Maybe 'the world' could have a go at being less black and white?

The class move would have been to keep his mouth shut and show his defiance with a string of sublime displays on the pitch. All this would never be mentioned again and I'm sure our fans would put it to bed. Instead he turns to social media and alienates himself even further. Social media and footballers is just a bad combination for everyone, the player, the club, the fans.
