Interesting question. There’s got to be a few born before the First World War. First World War?! Old Stokie can recall fighting the Fuzzy Wuzzies. Yo'm in trouble, Boy! But for those who wonder what you're on about, I'll get you out of it by providing a link by a famous poet. Poem by Kipling.OS.

I've known Old Stokie for nearly 20 years. He was already called Old Stokie back then on the original steam Internet but is still only 63. Something not right about it all. You are right... as usual. If ever there was a misnomer when it was first made, it was this one. And after reading this great thread, I still feel my moniker is a misnomer. I love to read about some of the real oldies that still support Stoke. I doff my flat cap in respect to them. Supporting Stoke for so long is akin to a lifelong padded-cell sentence in Siberia with the occasional glimpse of sunlight. I wish I was still 63. I'd be on the net now booking us flights to Monte Carlo again... or another trip to see Bossie. M. I hope you’re doing well Mick!! I genuinely thought of you on this thread 😂😂 Hopefully I’ll be able to catch up with you and buy you another drink again one day! You’re a true gent (despite Stoke making you feel otherwise lol) and I remember the OBPU and Tollgate get togethers fondly!

On the 9th August 2012 SCOBA put on a surprise birthday tribute to one of the all time greats of Stoke City. If John King is still alive, he would be 86 He is still alive and attending local lads and dad's games in Crewe and running after every ball that goes out of play (well he was doing that as of about 5 years ago) Lives near me Fantastic to hear
I had the absolute pleasure and delight of sitting with Mr King and his wife a few years back now at Audley Cricket Club one Sunday when I was watching my lad play
To call , him a livewire is an understatement but the conversation I struck up with both of them was the highlight of my day
Lovely couple

my Old Nan was 99 when she passed a few years back, in 2013 or 2014 i think it was now, i feel terrible that i dont remember the dates now
as i posted in a thread a few years back she grew up on barges on the trent and mersey bringing clay back from the docks in liverpool and taking finished pottery back with them, horses pulling them and pulling themselves through Harecastle tunnel, the full works, sorry i digress
but she used to tell me how her brothers and her dad went to watch stoke and her grandad before him, so its possible that her grandad watched us as stoke ramblers, was never sure, she used to tell me about the banter that was had on the barges between Stokies and Scousers
until dementia took her mind she always used to watch for the stoke scores and talk to me about matches that i went too while drinking from her market purchased stoke city mug
she did well the old girl and although she never went to see us in the Prem she loved that we were flying high and that i had the adventures we had while in Europe etc

I have a 98 year old aunt who used to watch Stoke in the 1930's (Matthews era). She now lives in Lincoln and has very poor eyesight but still takes an interest in the club's fortunes.

If he has been watching at the ground that long.. the club should honour him in some way Who was this person? View AttachmentThat’s Phil on the screen, the clubs historian. He’s getting on but he’s not that old 😂

A few years ago Burnley had elderly longtime Burnley fans escort the players out. That would be a beautiful gesture for our club. There surely are people who have loved the club through thick and thin for almost a hundred years.
