I've told Mrs Q that I've written into my will: I either have to go on a fired viking longship in the canal basin in Leeds city centre, or buried under a mature oak tree in the back garden. If she doesn't fulfill one of those conditions, she doesn't inherit.
We don't have any oak trees in our garden & I doubt Leeds council would allow the viking longship.
I haven't written them into my will, but I've got to keep her on her toes (and her hand away from the box of rat poison).
Music: I good friend a couple of years ago was carried in to the church to a live trad jazz band. I can't recall the song, sadly. He was carried out to Roger Whittaker: The Unicorn because he used to dance & sing to it with his kids. Brilliant, not a dry eye in the house.
I want to be carried in to Jethro Tull: Moths
and carried out to Buddy Holly: Not Fade Away
Heads up I run a small garden centre and I've had a big order for oak trees from a Mrs Q... Cheers Franklin. Make sure they're small. The requirement is a mature oak tree. Should stay her hand for another 100 years or so.

I went to a friend's funeral some years back, local headteacher, big Everton fan and a young woman who lit up a room. It was at the big church in Stone which was rammed. Before the service there must have been 30 or so minutes of wall to wall Florence and the Machine... it sounded so spiritual

I'd go with this, lights out, blue strobe lighting, smoke machine around the casket. You know, get the atmosphere going a little Sweet dude! Although his Ministry theme was boss!

Absent friends. The Divine comedy. On the way out of the church. Then the gathered two or three can go for a few beers and a sarnie on me. Thank goodness you didn’t choose Our Mutual Friend by the same group!

I was at a funeral on the Wirral on Monday, an Ex - RN Colleague, as his coffin was going off to the flame thrower the song was Life of Brian 'Always look on the bright side of life' the vicar person read out that Smudge wanted us all to sing and whistle as loud as we can to it.
One of the songs during the service was 'What a wonderful world'

Long black velvet carpets in the church, a 50 men male choir in black hoods with red crosses sounding lamentations without words for an hour.
So no. No songs.

Think I'll go with
Smells like teen spirit
Snuff - Slipknot
Learn to fly - Foo fighters or Champagne supernova - Oasis to go out on.

Coming in
Bit in the middle
Curtains close
Walking out
Just random YouTube playlist shit really.
Can't say I've thought about but my old dears did me a massive favour in lockdown and signed themselves up for Pure Cremation. It's not quite cardboard box and tranny van but it's not far off.
If I don't do the same it won't be much past that. Maybe one of those Dutch test tube things where they just flush you away afterwards 🤷

I've often thought CCR's Have You Ever Seen the Rain would be a good one to go out on.

On reflection and in keeping with the solemnity and pomposity the occasion will deserve I think the following may be more appropriate.... with full choir of course
I shall be belting it out at Edgbaston tomorrow not pondering on shuffling off this mortal
