It does put it in a hallowed club of 2 series 12 episode comedies that are truly brilliant! They did a stage show a few years back, it is perfect though and ends series two really well Early Doors was a masterpiece, but I'm glad it ended when it did. If they ran a college course on how to produce great sitcoms, the 'two series' rule would be Lesson One. A few might have got away with stretching it a little bit further, but IMHO some initially great shows were ruined by milking the joke to death. I'm not sure how well a 'Phil and Nige' spin-off would work either. It didn't go all that well for Max and Paddy. To the regiment! max and paddy was excellent imo. Maybe it’s a comedy if it’s time, I love it but a few younger ones I’ve recommended it to not so much

I'd have like to see them try, I always saw The Grapes as likely what The Feathers would have been if you'd seen the pub mentioned in The Royle Family. The Cash/Aherne cinematic universe. It's interesting how fondly the experience of acting on is remembered. Maxine Peake says she begged to be included in series 2. I do remember reading years ago in nuts magazine that the beer pumps were real and proper ale was served just for the authenticity! It’s a glimpse into our countries past now, sadly very few pubs like this will remain

Went I went to watch the live show, I was extremely sceptical that they would be able to resurrect the magic of the original writing nearly 20 years later. However, it was absolutely incredible and imo (and I know for a lot others too) it was easily as good as the original, in fact, arguably, even better! Phil and Nige's parts were absolutely stunning and I wouldn't have any reservations at all about there being a season 3.

Those pair are mint as are the rest of the cast, they’ve all got great parts shared equally around. That’s what’s so good about it. Caught up yesterday whilst recuperating from tonsillitis and the part where Joan was asking everyone if they liked Circuses had me crying🤣 I didn’t know why I was laughing so hard but the best comedy is just so simple

I’m so happy I’ve discovered something I can watch and genuinely laugh at on my own time👍🏻
