Its should only have an apostophe when it's short for it is.
Not related to apostophes I know, but a common error on this board is for 'bought' and 'brought' to be interchanged e.g. I brought my season ticket last week (instead of bought).

there is also another common switch, which is almost peculiar to Stoke - borrowed and lent - eg.
"can you borrow us a fiver?"
instead of "can you lend me a fiver"
